I like that 5 mph bumper on the train. Bet some rustoleum will fix it.

I just find it amazing that someone will actually post a story on the internet about themselves being run over by a train. And include pictures. I bet the insurance company thanked him too.

I bet that NorfolkSouthern gives him a BIG bill as well. I wonder if his insurance covers that! I do know that NS doesn't play games when it comes to trespassing. Their railroad cops just love arresting you even for just crossing track at sites other than the normal provided sites.

So I was reading through that guys thread, and am I correct in understanding that a 2003 Furd F-250 PSD only has a Dana 60 rear?!?!? That's the funniest thing I've ever heard. I'll keep my Dana 80 rear thanks.

The Super Duties had Dana 50 fronts up til 01 and 60 fronts from then on, and Sterling 10. 5" rears. Not sure if that is equal to a 70 or 80 or what

I was at the donut shop a few years back. There of course was half the force there. Well I overhear the cops giving this one female cop a hard time. She had parked parrallel to the track and gotten nailed. I heard her response"I didnt realize the train stuck so far over the sides". I could tell they really wanted to poke more fun at her for being stupid but she wasnt taking the razzing very well. It was hilarious.

Damn man. When I was a kid I would get 30 ft or better from the tracks cause I thought the vacuum would pull me in. Them things make a hell of a racket. I can hear em for a mile. We have had one death locally in 10 years that I can recall. It was a guy, older than me at the time ,maybe 20. He was running down the track away from the train. So he saw it but didnt get off. Just ran in the opposit direction. He had a 5th of whiskey in his backpack. I was told he was very fond of lsd. That would make sense. Trippin and didnt realise that getting off the tracks would be the best plan of action. Other than that. Im proud to say. Most alaskans know that several hundred thousand tons of steel will give you a nasty headache.

There is a nasty fine for driving over the tracks. One guy got jail time for it. Couple years I think. He got high centered. Was stuck in a town where the only way out was a 2 mile train tunnel and couldnt wait til the next day.

I see why you thought the Dana 60 was the rear axle. He (the guy that got hit) said something to the tune of "How much could I get for... . the Dana 60 rear end. "

Typical of a 6. 0 owner, money and no brains to even know what axles he has. Of course, he probably knows the rear end is totalled, so maybe he made a mistake?

But anyway, 60 is front, 10. 5 rear.

Its all fun and games til some P-Yanker gets stuck on the railroad tracks! Buy a Cummins if you can fool the insurance co.

Is that a Ranch Hand bumper on the train? :)

We've got pictures at work where the owner of the construction company I work at got a lowboy trailer hauling a D9 Caterpillar Dozer high centered at a crossing. Before they could think to back the dozer off the trailer... the crossing guards began ringing and low and behold a coal train is coming around the bend.

They began running as fast as they could. As they looked back he said it was strange because nobody was driving the train. It hit the Dozer and trailer and knocked it for a loop. The train was damaged some but didn't de-rail.

Later when asked who was driving the train... the engineer said they were laying on the floor after they locked the brakes. Cars you can watch... but he didn't have any experience with something almost as big as the locomotive engine. Nobody got hurt.

Actually it was part goofing around, (being in the area) and partly not my fault. All & all I was dumb. But we were at this crossing and slipped off the side, and got high-centered on my rear differential.

DUH! :p

Didn't Darwin have a theory about people like this? Something along the lines of "the stupid ones don't make it" :D

I'd like to hear more about how it was partly not his fault

The problem is Natural Selection doesn't work anymore. We have "idiot proofed" society to much. I don't think they should put warning signs on anything anymore. Common sense isn't so common anymore.
