11. 00 + dollars a gallon !!!! in Europe for diesel

Globalization is killing America due to speculatory market "Concerns".

When the first Tropical system forms near or enter's the Gulf prices will spike again !

"Americans must Prepare to Endure Tremendous Financial Hardship With Fossil Fuel Pricing and availability's" !!!!

On Tuesday, hundreds of British truck drivers in London and Cardiff brought traffic to a crawl in a campaign to get their government to lower taxes on diesel fuel, which now costs over $11 per U. S. gallon (3. 8 liters).

Other businesses owners who rely heavily on gas use — including farmers, ambulance and taxi drivers, and private bus companies — have joined the protest movement or are preparing to do so.

Those labor protests reflect the financial hit millions of Europeans are taking at the Diesel/Gas pumps. As American drivers groan over gas prices over $4 a gallon, and Diesel pushing over $5+ and prices increasing daily.

The French are paying $8. 67 for a gallon of super, compared to $7. 10 in January, 2007. A gallon of diesel in French gas stations averages $8. 54, up from $5. 35 just a year ago. And in the U. K. diesel costs $11. 50 per gallon, compared to around $4. 75 to the mid $5's in the U. S.

Across the European Union, the average cost of a gallon of gas runs to about $8. 70 — more than twice what Americans are shelling out to fill up. And Europe's dizzying fuel costs would be even worse if it weren't for the considerable appreciation of the euro and the British pound against the dollar over the past year, which has partially offset the price escalation in dollar-traded oil.

We are so lucky to be working to feed the truck.

My company gas card maxes out at 1000. 00 and it doesnt even fill the Big Truck heavy haul 600hp Detroit Diesel Freightliner's tank at 6 miles per gallon.

Seems were were allready into some difficult times allready.

Yeah, and what I don't get is everyone I've talked to personally is driving much less. Everyone on these diesel forums (TDR and DTR) state they are driving their truck less. A four page article in the local Sunday paper cited numerous statements from people who are driving less now and plan to drive fewer miles this summer. They stated demand is down 3-4% nation wide just since the start of summer. Value of the dollar is a factor but the supply/demand hype is not holding water imo.

President Bush is at the end of his tenure. Instead of pardoning scumbags like every other president has done, how about an executive order ok'ing domestic exploration of any viable land for fossil fuel. Precautions would be in order, minimal damage would occur and oil exploration and refining would help the US and keep the oil bucks here. Alternative energy sources would naturally be developed alongside.

Bajabob,

I like that idea of an executive order. I wonder if that is legal. If it is, I wonder why that isnt being pushed by those that have influence.

Are you guys kidding? Bush IS an oil man, most of his staff are in oil, why the heck would he do that?? If he does open fields it will be for he or his cronies benefit NOT ours. and you can FORGET alternatives being developed if any crude is available.

I drive 65 miles one way each day & my wife 13..... starting tomorrow, I drive the hyundai and my wife the cummins.

Oil is at historic levels worldwide except major oil producing countries. I'm no fan of Bush but the companies control him,not vice-versa. He declared an income of somewhere around $900,000 and paid taxes of just under $300,000. That's not exactly cleaning up. Wait'll either of the next folks get in. You haven't seen anything yet!:{

YUP - Bill Clinton made 6 times that much last year just chasing women, lecturing others in how to live, and writing books...:-laf

WHERE TO BUY AMERICAN GAS AND DIESEL. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW. READ ON.

(Gas rationing in the 70's worked even though we grumbled about it. It might even have been good for us!)

Are you aware that the Saudis are boycotting American products? In addition, they are gouging us on oil prices.

Shouldn't we return the favor? Can't we take control of our own destiny and let these giant oil importers know who REALLY generates their profits, their livings? How about leaving American Dollars in America and reduce the import/export deficit? Now unless you have a lot of investment money in foreign oil futures, this should sound inviting.

An appealing remedy might be to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up your car you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia . Just purchase gas from companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.
Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill up my tank, I'm sending my money to people (who I get the impression) want me, my family and my friends dead.

The following gas companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... 205,742,000 barrels

Chevron/Texaco... ... ... ... ... ..... 144,332,000 barrels

Exxon /Mobil... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... 130,082,000 barrels

Marathon/Speedway... ... ... ... . 117,740,000 barrels

Amoco... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . 62,231,000 barrels

And CITGO oil is imported from Venezuela by Dictator Hugo Chavez who hates America and openly avows our economic destruction! (We pay Chavez's regime nearly $10 Billion per year in oil revenues!)

The U. S. currently imports 5,517,000 barrels of crude oil per day from OPEC. If you do the math at $130 per barrel, that's over $715 million PER DAY (nearly $261 BILLION per year!) handed over to OPEC, many of whose members are our confirmed enemies!!!!! It won't stop here - oil prices could go to $200 a barrel or higher if we keep buying their product.

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Sunoco... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . 0 barrels
Conoco... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... 0 barrels
Sinclair... ... ... ... ... ... ..... 0 barrels (That's where my gas money goes)
BP / Phillips... ... ... ... ... . 0 barrels
Hess. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... 0 barrels
ARC0... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... 0 barrels
Maverick... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . 0 barrels
Flying J. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... 0 barrels

Valero... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . 0 barrels

All of this information is available from the U. S. Department of Energy and each company is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

I think its more of a co-op. :-laf

... thats what I'm afraid of!!

demand is down 3-4% nation wide just since the start of summer.

I'm surprised it's that low. I would've expected more like 10%. I wonder if that's 3-4% over last year, or over last month.

Most people I know are cutting back, and it seems like people are driving slower (although that could be psychological since I'm starting to routinely run 5 mph below the speed limit).

someone said in another post that fuel use was down 4. 8% last year and they expected more this year. our normal growth of use is 1% over the prior year. this drop in use will happen in all countrys that dont subside part of the fuel prices to their people. india and china being the two biggest. a world wide energy commision met in japan this last week to discuss how the deal with the price of fuel. the us said to drop the subsides to stop over use due to low prices. japan said to drop them all at once would cause world wide recession. what are we in now???? a strange thing here in nw washington diesel has come down from $5. 09 to $4. 88 over the last few weeks and gas has continued to rise to $4. 25. i have not driven my truck except for a few miles a week just to keep it clean and charged. are we building up surplus. per the news the oil reserves in the us are the higest they have been in a very long time. robert

Thanks for speculating $6 diesel in your title. You just raised te price another 50 cents. Thanks a lot buddy! Everybody stop talking about higher prices. Don't you understand how speculating works? Some idiot predicts oil will be $150 a barrell and then a bunch more idiots buy it, driving the price up to $150 a barrell. Here's a thought, stop speculating, and smash the face of speculators.

Here are some real facts about Europe Diesel prices.

I am in Europe right now (10 JUN 08). Switzerland is about 2. 20 Swiss Francs / Litre = about $8. 36 / gallon

France is about 1. 50 Euros / Litre = about $9. 12 / gallon

People are *****ing about it here too... Things are going to change.

I drive the truck less now and have yet to see any biofuels at the pump in austin texas 4. 59 here . I see that diesel in CA is hitting 5. 49 /5. 59 and that includes a 70 cent tax , been thinking why we dont have turbine powered trucks and tractors with govt, hydrogen fuel cell mandates to push a fast track production of these vehicles and equipment . The Trucking assoc says that for every penny diesel goes up it costs the trucking industry 391 million bucks.

Im looking for a 50 mpg diesel sport utility crossover i can drive now they have them in europe now they keep saying they are coming ?
