Diesel Price again..NOR-CAL

Kind of getting used to seeing crap like this . .

Obviosly everyone who writes articals for any magazine about Diesel 4x4's has never been to a race/pulling track .

Just one more thing for the PSD boys to point out to each other when their setting along side the road broke down.

DM

I scanned this sorry for the poor quallity

Its from

FOUR WHEELER SEP. 2005

They seem to focus on the "stoplight-to-stoplight" feature - where the faster reving V8's have an edge over the locomotive type power of an inline 6 - wonder if the article even attempted to cover engine reliability and durability - or real-life pulling power in work or recreation (RV) use...

Not much point in getting riled about this stuff, it's always been like this - the high-$$$ advertisers get the respect their $$$ buys, and the actual report is written by some secretarial assistant who probably just read advertising brochures, and never actually opened a door or sat in the driver's seat...

And yeah, that same opinion STILL applies, even if the Cummins won - magazine ratings usually aren't worth the paper they're printed on as far as real analysis and accuracy is concerned...

It's probably a magazine that is frequently planed in car dealerships. It gives the 6. 0 guys something to read while they are in for warranty work. :-laf It gives the dealer a chance to do customer relations repair work and reinstill confidence in the owner while his truck is down repeatedly. :-laf It's kind of like brain washing them. If they hear it enough, they might actually believe it. :D

FordWheeler Magazine

BWAHHHHH! ROTFLMAO! I just got my issue of FordWheeler today as well.

My wife usually knows to just tune me out for an hr or so every time I get a truck rag in the mail. My screams of laughter upon spotting that "prestigious award" were loud enough to make her come check on me. :-laf :-laf Gotta keep the big money sponsors happy.

The only thing I'll say for a saving grace of the issue is they highlighted a mild build-up of the Baja Bomber (24 valver) in there where it broke 5 hunned horse and 1k TQ!! All that power with a set of BD twins, Mach 2 injectors, and a comp box. When they added the Snow water/meth, the temps at that power didn't even break 1200º!

If you can ignore page 50, this issue is a great tide-me-over till the next Diesel Power comes out.

Lets see the buildup on a six-oh crap there went my rod bearings. :D

Next time one comes up next to me at a stop sign or light, I'LL DISRESPECT HIM!!!!

Especially if we have trailers. And definitely at 400,000 miles!!!

I've just gotta chime in here. Ya see, I had this terrible sickness... I sold my perfect 03 CTD for an 05 6. 0L. What can I say... I was seduced by dark side. Actually it was the CC that one me over. Anyway, I wouldn't have anything but a stick, so I ordered a 6 speed. Now I have to say, I didn't have a single problem with the truck - it was tight and fast and very comfortable (Lariat luxury with a bunch of trimmings), but... the thing I never could get used to was the absolute lack of low end. I could launch in 2nd on my 03 CTD on any pitch (3rd on most) and stalling it was unheard of. I stalled the 6. 0L half a dozen times till I got used to it. And when cold... forget about it. Gray smoke everywhere and no power at all untill it warmed up. Like I said, I didn't have any problems in 16k miles, but I knew of way too many lifted heads and EGR problems. I just couldn't see keeping the truck for the long haul. Bottom line, I ended up dumping it because it just didn't feel like a diesel. Now I'm happy as a can be with my 12-valve.

Same Old Story

Through the years I have been involved in a few different industries at the retail/dealer level, and in every case the so-called consumer advocate magazines were biased/mis-guided/mis-informed. I have learned to ignore them even when they happen to endorse something I sell. I guess even a blind squirrel can get a nut once in a while :-laf

I know it's a much debated subject, but a V-8 diesel just doesn't cut it in my book. I've owned two Intrashnational diesel V-8's and both were garbage.

Our Nod Goes to the linear power and higher redline of the Powerstroke ,which melds the awesome low-end of the Cummins

:-laf Oh that's rich.

they probably have, but are waiting until they see this thread here before they start a thread bashing the TDR with all their blind loyalty of the blue oval... and once one of the many tdr members posts something in that thread started, the big padlock will fall on it

thats just sad... im a ford guy, but know dam well that a cummins is much better than the international motor ford puts in it... . to say the 6. 0 is the best diesel motor is just kinda sad that the person who wrote that has no more knowledge than that... . like said before, go to IRP and see how many 6. 0s won... . NONE!

the guy my dad bought his powerstroke off of bought an 04 brand new. in like 5,000 miles, he blew 3 turbos.

I read that "article" yesterday, payola big time, either that or they are ignorant as can be... linear power my keister! why don`t they stick to gas engines? (the baja bomber project is pretty cool tho).

Geee... ... just like an OB (Oilburners) member posting over there as well... . tends to bring out the big kahuna paddlelock.

TDS is a wierdo site... . never seen so much butt-kissers and money grubbing truckers in one place. :-{} Tis a shame too... . there could be a wealth of Ford info there... . but its only for the new and improved trucks.  And most of that info is pretty skewered and slanted and shish-kabobed.

Sorry, Im an ex-railroader and ASE Master Tech and dont have time for bull****. I know what works and what doesnt. AND Im always OPEN to learning more and being corrected if wrong. Nobody is perfect! :-laf :-laf

Now where is the liquor? party on!
