is 6BTA really a JI Case Originally?

Folks,

A friend of mine has an '85 GMC 6. 2L diesel pickup. Her passenger side head lights, blinkers, marker lights all look to be at 1/2 brightness, whereas her driver side lights all appear a 2x brightness. Also, passenger brake light is out.

The truck was recently in the shop for some starter work, and comes back with the light problem.

Any clues on what this problem is? A faulty ground on the passenger side harness? I recall someone mentioning this problem once before, but can't recall the answer. Is the brake light a cause?

Thanks.

Craig

Sounds pretty bizarre to me Craig! I wish I had some ideas but somehow a ground does seem to be shorted to 12V somewhere, dropping that portion of the 12v (causing dim lights) and raising voltage of the portion with the shorted ground, effectively almost doubling the voltage.

By the way how are things going? Haven't seen much of you around on TDR in a good long time!

Vaughn

Thanks for the reply Vaughn. Bizarre indeed. Isn't it funny how you bring your truck into a shop, and it leaves with a whole new set of problems? Then again, the truck is a GMC!

I've been lurking around the TDR, just haven't posted very much. The 'ol crowd seems to have disappeared from the board, or at least got their trucks working correctly -- or perhaps have given up completely!

All is going well with me. Nowel's passing threw me for a loop, as it did us all, I suppose. I hope everything is going well for you -- I guess the weather there in Washington last week was something to behold.

Take care. If you have any inspired insight re: the light problem, let me know!

Had a 85 6. 2 Suburban. Never had that problem. One my 78 Olds

Custom Cruiser, I had a problem like that. It was a 5. 7 diesel.

Diesel and problem not related. Anyway, after changing an engine out, I broke one of the little ground wires that are about

16 gauge and did not know it. Drove me crazy trying to find that. They generally are around the front of the engine compartment. They are held on with small screws.

I have a 82 1/2 ton 6. 2 at the shop. I'll look tomorrow and see if any of those small wires are on it.
