Hoping someone can clarifiy a qustion for me. I've read where the new 6sp auto on the 2500/2300 trucks is built by Dodge whereas the 6sp auto on the Chassis cabs is a different trans built by Aisin? Is there any truth to this or is it the same trans?

Thanks in advance for clarification.

Yes, they are two different transmissions. The 68RFE is a Dodge transmission, and the Aisin 6 speed which goes on the C&C are different. The Aisin will have PTO capability, which the 68RFE will not. The 68RFE is also about $1000 cheaper than the over $2000 Aisin model

The 68RFE is actually a Daimler/Mercedes engineered transmission.

I believe the following are accurate:

Automatic Transmissions Ratios

68RFE ratios:

1 - 3. 231:1

2 - 1. 837:1

3 - 1. 410:1

4 - 1. 000:1

5 - 0. 816:1

6 - 0. 625:1

R - 4. 444:1

Aisin ratios:

1 - 3. 74:1

2 - 1. 96:1

3 - 1. 34:1

4 - 1. 00:1

5 - 0. 77:1

6 - 0. 63:1

R - 3. 54:1
