Fuel Mileage

Just turned over 3,000 miles and with the last four tanks I am averaging 13. 44 mpg. This includes rural hiway driving with a little city stop and go. I haven't towed anything yet but that will happen here soon. I am hoping it's still got some room for improvement as it gets broke in.

mpg

My truck has 700 miles on it and I am getting 12. 5mpg around town and 15 mpg on the parkway illegaly this is with a 373 rear on a drw also I am using STANADYNE PREFORMANCE FORMULA AND STANADYNE LUBRICITY FORMULA MIXED before I was using this witches brew I was getting 11. 5mpg around town and 13. 5mpg on the parkway illegally Unfortunately Im paying $55. 00 for a case of lubricity fornmula and $80. 00 a case of preformance formula so I AM PAYING TOP DOLLAR TO GET GOOD MILEAGE for me it a small price to pay Because ULSD is garbage and I dont want my $55,000 truck in the shop like all of the members on this website are bustin thier humps paying for them every month Matt 2007. 5 laramie dually leer cap mbrp 6 exhaust tip tfp mirror covers

this is off topic but when you say Parkway Illegaly

what do you mean by that?

My wifes family lives in Queens NY. I will need to drive on parkways and expressways to get there. I have a DRW with no markings and no trailer

will I be able to drive on these roads?

parkway illegal

I live in NYs and is illegal to drive a dually on the parkway due to the weight. so I take the parkway because it saves me time to get to work to work overtime I also know this to be true because I work for NYS THE LAW IS STUPID BECAUSE THERE ARE SUV s THAT WEIGH MORE THAN MY DUALLY I hope this helps Matt 2007. 5 3500 black dually Laramie leer cap tfp door handles putco light covers factory steps I live in Suffolk county on in Long Island

Are you serious? Did you hand calculate this? What's your driving style?

I tried cruise control over a 229 mile trip which used to get me the best mileage in my 04. 5 and got 14. 2 on the highway. I drove it like I stole it on the way back and got 16. 7.

with 14,000 miles on the clock my milage is 19-20 mpg over all average, city and hwy.

That's interesting. On our 04. 5, using cruise control, we average 18, with a best (just once) of 19. That's setting cruise at 65.

Just returned from a short trip and did actual measurements of the fuel usage. 19. 4 MPG, running at 60 MPH on cruse control, normal operation is light duty courier, less than 500 Lb of cargo weight.

What I meant was the driving style which produced the best mileage results on my 04. 5 was setting the cruise and not touching the pedal with my foot. I saw 19. 2 once on this same trip using cruise control set on 75 with the 04. 5 truck. I could usually get around 17.

I assumed this would get the best mileage on the new 07. 5 truck. It appears from my hand calculations that using my right foot in the manner I choose produces better results. This would indicate that higher RPMs(above 2000) are more fuel efficient on this new truck. At 65MPH on this truck with the 68RFE trans I am only turning 1700-1750 RPMs.

That's interesting, Caveman. Thanks for clarifying.

I wonder if others have had the same experience between their 6. 7s and 5. 9s?

We've only put about 1200 miles on ours, just around town driving for work and stuff. The best we've seen is 17. 8MPG. At least that's as good as the Ford which it replaced.

Still glad I kept the '01 for myself, I regularly see 23MPG driving it around town for work.

Well I ran my first tank out today... . I filled it with 135 miles on the truck and filled it again at 447 miles for $100. 00 and 32 gallons. 312 miles on 32 gallons of fuel (GULP), for 9. 75 MPG. 130 of the last miles were pulling about 6500 LBS and the rest were empty. I am really starting to wonder if I should have got another 5. 9 or kept mine 01 which I am selling tomorrow. I will say I do love the ebrake though.

My experience from new on June 02, 2007 is as follows:

First, 1000 miles average 19 MPG

Prior to 18-033-07 REV. A I was getting 25 MPG

Since 18-033-07 REV. A&B due to the excessive active regen cycles I am back to 19 MPG on the hwy running at 60 MPH

6.7 Mileage

I just traveled between PA & RI (moderate hills). I drove between 65 & 72 mph most of the time. Drove a total of about 525 miles when I was monitoring the fuel mileage. Other than going through a few towns and several construction sights, I sustained highway speeds. Temperature was in the low 80's.

My Hand Calculated mileage was 18. 4. Note I was very easy on the accelerator!

The truck is a 4X4 Quad Cab with an 8 foot bed & a Manual 6 speed trans. Tires are all terrain with 65 psi in the front and 55 in the back. The truck had 3500 miles on when I started out. Note I have a bed cover on the truck.

Not bad considered the engine is not broken in, the oil is crude, the tires are all terrain and the transmission needs another gear! Hopefully this can turn into 20+ when the truck is broken in and tires/oil are upgraded to highway and synthetic respectively.

I have been getting around 14 mph for local country road driving... .

At 60 MPH I am running 1600 RPM, my best recorded results seem to be when I run between 1400 to 1600 RPM per the manufactures recommendations.
I want to obtain a lower read end so I can run at 65-70 at about 1400 RPM.
This engine is very efficient running at the lower RPM's and you can feel the beast just waiting to be let loose. After 12 hours behind the wheel I appreciate the quiet running truck at the lower RPM's also there is very little wind noise in my set up and I hope t reduce what remains by adding some air tabs. www.airtab.com - The smart way to cut the cost of your highway fuel costs

I picked up the new truck last Monday at Carson City Dodge. I travelled (empty) down through the Sierra's to Bishop and then on to Palmdale, Ca. I hand calculated the first 425 miles and it turned up at 14. 2. Admittedly I took it easy on the pedal and kept the speeds to a max of 65. The winds were fierce most of the way and there was a 7500 ft. pass to go over.

I think the mileage was pretty good considering the truck is a 4. 10. My old 93would get about 18. The 6 spd auto is great. I've had a chance to back into a few campsites with the 5th wheel this week and it is wonderful, no bucking!!!! and no regen problems as yet. Ted
