common rail into 2nd gen 12v

allison shift problem 3rd gen 2000

Is it possible? I think it would be pretty cool but what would have to be done? Would it be worth it? Any input would be great.

At the risk of being flamed by the hardcore P-Pump guys, I would say it wouldn't be worth it. All of us know that the P-Pump is the ultimate pump, but I'm thinking they are getting the common rail trucks up in the same HP range. Also, I would think after you strip all the 6. 7 stuff to do the repower, about all you'd have left would be a block.

Yeah they are getting some good power out of the CR. I just think it'd be cool if it could be done right. Would be interesting build I imagine also.

I read somewhere that it is possible, you just need the front timing case and the cover. But with the siamese cylinders in the 6. 7 I'd say it's not worth it, because it would just create heat spots on the cylinder walls causing them to break. This was the reason the hot rod and muscle car guys stayed away from the Chevy 400 small block.

From what I have read, the industrial 6. 7 is not the same as the new 6. 7, i was under the impression that the ind. 6. 7 was a stroked 5. 9 6BT.
