Robert @ shiver diesel changed mine 10. 00 He is about 6'13'' and has long arms ... took him maybe 3 minutes to remove and replace. My filter was purchased @ dealer and was only 20. 00?? I was certain they had priced it wrong ... apparently not. Mine was the entire black plastic housing with sensors ,wiring connectors and the cartridge. I swear it had to be priced wrong!!!! Any way it appears that you could replace the cartridge only, it comes apart and seals internally w/ an o ring. I am not tall enough to do this even standing on a milk crate so I will gladly let Robert @ shiver diesel service mine ... He is Class A in my book.

The newest Cummins/Fleetguard/Mopar "OEM" filter can is the one to have now anyway as it filters better with the replacement element . And fulfills all warranty requirements . Order extra elements for the toolbox from Genos garage from the link below:

$50 bucks and or $37 for the element only plus shipping and no tax

Any correctly sized "viton" o-ring will work they are green color coded and should be a common part at any refrig supply or hyd shop ,They are freon gas and oil ,fuel resistant,

Also when you find this sizing info ,could you post the correct numerical size and dia. for this o-ring part ?

Geno's offers both the MOPAR and Cummins assemblies now. Mine is on a FedEx or UPS truck somewhere between Georgia and West Texas.

I have a new 09 QC dually, less than 2000 miles. After reading about the FS2 filter I purchased one from Geno's. Installing it proved to be more than I wanted to tackle. The local Lube & Tune did it for $15, money well spent :)

I still give Cummins an F for the original design and and even bigger F for a "new and improved" design that acconplishes nothing more than saving some plastic. F's all the way around for this filter setup.

New filter Design improves injector and pump reliabilitiy, Just wish a tank preheater prefilter was optional below 32 degrees for a Arctic option Mopar offers a timed diesel fired cab/coolant heater but it only costs 1900. 00 but doesnt address fuel gelling without additives or number #1 diesel for winter or blends

But racor & fleetguard has a closed looped coolant heated or electrically heated inline prefilter water separator setup to warm fuel inline to reduce gelling potential in extreme cold with chill factors a plug in 110 volt tank oil pan blanket or sticky heating pad would work but not on a poly tank .

volvo trucks has a neat Arctic setup for icy condition very simular to this

I just got a box of 6. 7 mopar filters in. Did you guys notice on the bottom of the filter there's a spot to put a half inch drive extension in it to loosen the filter with. It's done in a way that won't let you tighten, only loosen. There twice the size of my 5. 9 filters. Looks pretty slick to me.

A mechanic at Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg has developed a fuel filter system that goes inline before the factory filter and it has a 2 micron fuel filter and another filter for water seperation and mounts right on the frame I believe, DSM wanted over 500 installed when i bought my new 09 but I can get it at local NAPA for 200 and easy install. Will try to get more info and pass it on.

Be careful about a fuel filter that may increase fuel pressure felt by the transfer pump. If an aftermarket fuel filter increases the load felt by the tank-mounted fuel transfer pump and causes failure the pump is expensive to replace.

What is more expensive-set of injectors or in tank fuel pump. even if you went to a 5 or 7 micron filter the ease of changing way out weighs the inconvenience of taking off the front wheel and inner liner to change the stock filter. I will try to find out more on system before buying but seems reasonable at first look.

Replaced a 6. 7 fuel filter for the first time yesterday. That wasn't any fun. One of the slick things about a inline engine is they are easer to work on, not this filter. I think they could have come up with a better location. I do like the filter.

If the LP on the 6. 7 is the same as the in-tank on the 5. 9 it's a very robust unit. I am pushing thru 3 filters with my LP and have 23. 5K miles on those filters with about a . 5psi drop in pressure from new.

Also Dodge just released a TSB for severe filtration for the 5. 9 and 6. 7 that includes a 2nd filter (f/w sep with WIF sensor), HD LP, and HD tank vent kit.

Based on what a PITA the 6. 7 filter seems to be to change it seems that an earlier 20um f/w sep filter would increase the life of the OEM filter, and a gauge after the filter would tell you how often you had to change. (Setup similar to what I have now. . I am certain that I wouldn't get 23K miles on just 1 filter, but with sequential 20-5-2 filtering each filter only gets a portion of the dirt and they last a LONG time). . And a psi gauge allows you to change filters based on capacity not miles, so it doesn't take long to actually pay for the gauge and start saving $$.

What is the TSB number for 08 6. 7 ?

And what determines or qualifies for the TSB upgrade or how ?

They try to sell it as theirs, but its just a local guy who makes them. My dad has one on his truck. Works good, but they are a little pricey.

Get the heads at NAPA but not the fitlers.
