I just ordered a Buck Stop bumper for my 99 2500. It comse with 6" opennings for aux/fog lights. I am looking at putting 55 or higher watt lights in them. Has anone used the stock fog light relay to run these type of lights? How mucg wattage can the stock relay handle? If the relay will not handle it can it be upgraded to one that can?

I have been using 55w fogs on my bumper for 7-8 months now and havent had a problem. I sodered. I guess if I do have a problem I would probley call suvlights.com and see if they can make a harness. happy with the sport conversion harness they made

KBrennan,

I to have a '99 with a Buckstop. I am running the Hella 500 (as sold by Buckstop). I was told that I could use the factory fog light relay wire to activate the Hella relay. I also decided not to use Hella's suggestion to use the high beam hot wire and instead used a fuse tap off a keyed fuse to activate my relay. This way I could have my Hella's on anytime the key was on but not run my battery dead (like I have) by running the Hella relay off an always hot wire. Using the factory fog lamp switch will also let you run a keyed-only set of 6in lights but not with the High Beams and only with the running lights on.

Good luck and have fun.

just some 4" piaa 55w. nothing special but they work. dont seem to really need them after i did the sporthead light conversion but I will keep them

How dificult was the Sport Headlight conversion, who did you get it from and what did you pay for it? If you don't mind me asking.
