Shocks front and rear

a seat cushion for us with aches/pains

Hi All,

I don't know if it's just our diesel trucks BUT the rear of my diesel truck sets up about 4 1/2

inches taller than my gas truck..... Only difference I could see is that the Diesel truck has a block spacer under the spring that measures 6" tall vs the gassers 3" block (my gasser may be sagging a bit since it has been worked hard )... Other difference is that the diesel has the factory overload springs too (I 'll never haul more than 1500 LB in the bed so ovevrload springs may be overkill in my case) ... . My question is... . Can I get a 3" block and new Ubolts to lower my diesel truck?... . I want to lower the rear to make it more level with the front BUT more importantly so I can use this truck and pull the various other trailers our company has without the hassle of having to buy new ball mounts (all the other trucks in the company sit about the same height as the 86 W250)... ... Also the slightly lower lift height into the bed would be helpful in some situations I think. Has anybody out there done this? Are there any Cons to this other than the cost of the parts and a little labor? How about alignment?

Thanks

Andrew

I think you would need to change the tires as they would start rubbing with a load if you took 3 inches out of the suspension ( that is like going to a 6 inch smaller tire)

If you need to hook trailer up then I would get a drop hitch for the height difference.

You might want to hook up to a trailer and see where you sit loaded. I find that if there is a lot of hitch weight these trucks settle a long ways. I don't mind this as they ride better when empty. Just a thought.

Edit* Never mind, I for some reason did not read your sig. Disregard.

Dodge had a recall, it offered a lower block for those who haul fifth wheels. Mine has the lower block (3-3/4" I believe). Is your truck a 2nd gen? I have 285-75-16's on my truck and even at the bumpstops the tires come nowhere near close to rubbing. Mine also does not sag with lots of tongue weight. Ive had 3K pin weight in the bed before, and 1300lbs on the reciever before, and it didnt sag bad at all.

Where are you located? If you measure your rear blocks, and take a pic if possible, I will possibly trade you U-bolts and blocks. I would like the larger blocks on mine.
