At 31k, 1k after first dlr trans fluid change, started grinding gears when downshifting to 2nd. next 5k miles occured more often and into 3rd and once in a while into 4th All down shifts. up shifts just fine. local dealer says he have no tools to work on manuals and wont look. finally got to selling dealer today and he says its "normal" to grind gears at higer rpm downshifts and called dc who confirmed "normal" story. now have 46k and gears grind 40% of downshifts to 2nd, 30% of 3rds an maybe 5% of 4ths. never groung once first 30k. what the heck is up with this? ? ? who at DC can help? thanks in advance for the support

Well, I will be the first one to tell you that your synchronizers are gone.

You did not give the year of your truck. If it is 99 to 01 with 11/4” input shaft

you are out of luck. In 01 they changed the input shaft to 13/8” with different and bigger synchronizers.

In any case go back to the dealer and tell them to fix it.

That is if you are not your own warrantee station.

I just put in a new one in mine at 65,000, 6th gear synchronizer is gone.

I AM MY OWN WARRANTEE STATION
