Ummmm, The NV5600 is not in production now (neither is the NV4500 as far as I know), but there are a large number in service and there are quite a few people that sell/service them. I have heard of some folks having issues with getting replacements thru DC, but Standard Transmission, Blumenthal, etc. seem to not be having any problems with replacements and remans.

I would also say that the NV5600 has a sterling reputation for reliability (it's a cast iron son of a b****), so I wouldn't rule out a good truck with one in it.

Given the ratios in the G56, I'd prefer finding a NV5600 equipped truck. But that's your choice. Anyway, it's only my 2¢ worth...

After I replaced my 4500 the last time I had a chat with the GM at Standard Trans. 5600 parts and cores are in short supply, the old $4000 changeover is a thing of the past. I doubt, based on that conversation, that there will be a lot of repair parts available in the future.
