Is the stock clutch that came with my 2001 six speed a heavier duty clutch than that which comes with the 5 speed and will it be stout enough to hold up to EZ with no other mods?

From 4,000 miles up to 16,000 miles the clutch has been holding up just fine with an EZ and no other mods. Everyday driving to towing a 4,500lb boat uphill and down I haven't had a problem one.

Thankyou PHX ATC

I may fly the 182 to Falcon field this spring to watch my son play baseball perhaps we will talk on the radio

from what I have seen

There is a little better luck with the 5 speed clutches holding up than the 6 speeds, when I installed my EZ it was cool for a few months and then one day it slipped and it was all down hill from there, once you slip the oem clutch it will never be the same again, now some folks are having good luck and the clutch is holding fine... ... . u-know all trucks as well as driving habbits are different... ... ... ... . I don't work there anymore, but I worked there for 4 years. If you think about it, and want a smart comment from them, ask for me, they all know me. I'm down at PHX tower now. Drop me an email at -- email address removed -- before you come if you remember. Where does he play ball?

PHX ATC he plays for Mesa Community college. H redshirted his freshman year because he had the Tommy John surgery. We are hoping he'll be pitching this year. His name is Sean Gallian

I will keep an eye out for him. We live just 5 miles southeast of FFZ. Drop me an email about the EZ. Gotta get off the net and help with dinner or I'll never live to see another trip in the truck!!!

To answer your questions. 6 speed clutch is weaker than 5 sp. Some have good luck with just EZ, some don't. I did 85K miles with EZ & stocker, full time tow rig, 6-12K#'s.

I slipped mine the second time I pulled my 5K trailer. Moved the jumper to middle position and it's not slipped since. I do take it a bit easy when starting out while pulling. So far so good.

My stock clutch has held fine with the mods listed. I have towed 6K + and hot rod a little here and there. :D In talking with Harvey (J&H Diesel in Redding, CA) it seems as though there were 2 different manufactures of pressure plates who supplied Dodge. From what he said, some appear to hold better than the others. Maybe I was just lucky and got one of the good ones. When it does go, however, the SBC is going in.

You're right, the 6spd/HO has a 13" disk instead of 12. 25" with the 5spd. The 13" clutch seems to be weaker however, go figure. At least a bombed 13" will be stronger than bombed 12. 25" though.

My clutch does not slip at all so far. As you can see by my signature I have the EZ and injectors. I cannot say the clutch is going to last 100,000 miles, but so far so good @ 28,000 miles. Also, to let you know I don't tow much at all and when I do it is only around 8,000 pounds. I do hot rod quite a bit though:D

I don't think mine is slipping but it's making a noise. When I let out the clutch for a 2nd gear start I hear a chirp. I have a South Bend Clutch on the way so I'm hoping the chirp is clutch related and the new one will stop it.
