Motor manual for dummies needed

FSM- Factory Service Manual.. where can i get one?

Sam,
I know it makes the shift pattern smaller but does it give a tighter feel to the shift? Does it make the gears feel more accurate? Does it change the shift quality?

i know that is not very clear but it is the best I can explain what I am asking.

Ted

Oh well!

Dog gone it---Dawg-1. The suspense just got the best of me so I ordered one, and should get tommorrow. I guess it will be either a must have or I "should of cut the plastic card up". :D

In a day or two, I guess I will be with the Dawg-1, or in the dog house.

Steve

I got to check out DAWG-1 new shifter wow! Shifts are short and tight. This is a good upgrade. Let everybody no about this one. :D

Hi Ted,

The shift kit gives you a tighter feel and more accurate. I am not sure what you mean by shift quality  . I am very happy with this kit :D . Sam

DAWG-1,

Doe's the shifter speed up shifts from one gear to the next, so you can show them Ferds and Chebbys why they shoulda bought a Dodge/Cummins? :D

Ok...So I got one!

Like Dawg-1 said, I do like the difference and feel better then stock. However, after saying that, I was disappointed, in what you get for the price. The product does what the manufacture says it will do. However, I envisioned the kit would come with a new cool billet shift lever( which it didn't) IMO would have made the kit better and justified the high costs. :(

?????????

Kantdrives55... I don't know what you are looking at, however, if you go to summit racing web site or Jegs, probably the two largest auto performance retailers in the USA, you will find both the Hurst, and B&M (again the 2 largest) makers of manual after market shift kits do come with a shift lever, and most with a knob for the prices you quoted above. :( I'm not trying to get into a ******* match with BD, as I personally know a lot of your guys). I also believe BD to be reputable co. with quality products. My point is, your present shift kit is higher, then the average US make. If you were to include a new "style" shift lever in your kit your current pricing would be more in line. The problem I had when ordering it was I "assumed" it would have come with the kit? I think a picture, with the parts listed with the kit , would help to prevent others assuming a different shift lever comes with the set.

I might be willing to buy one for say 100. 00 or so, but can't justify $200. 00+ cost. I think it would be easy for someone to start making these and selling them.

Pat,

Do you have any pics you can post? I'm trying to figure out if this thing is really worth 200. 00. I like to see just what I'm getting for the money.

Thanks,

Charles

Like Charles said I don't think it's worth the cabbage and I like my shift throws now. They're fantastic compared to an old triplex in a Mack. :D

I picked this off the Summit Website.

Dodge: 1994-2000 Dakota 4. 7L-5. 9L, five-speed, NV3500 transmissions, Competition/Plus shifter

The industry standard for over 30 years, the Hurst Competition Plus shifter offers state-of-the-art transmission control. It's designed specifically for your Dakota with a manual transmission and a factory console

NOTE: this is not the BD 5600 shifter, but it does illustrate what I would expect to get for my money... Summit Charges $169. 95
