my buddy has an 01 24v witha 6 speed, on occasion when he is sitting with the clutch in and truck in gear the truck starts to move forward like he is letting the clutch out, then he can even let it out and push it back in and nothing and the only way to stop the truck is to turn off the motor. any info please let me know. thanks

Sounds to me like one of two things are happening - the master or slave cylinder is leaking and letting the clutch out or the pilot bearing is starting to seize up (just happened to me about 4 months ago & had to drive home 100+ miles without a functioning clutch).

Mine was like this last summer. The clutch master and slave cylinder needed replaceing.

I don't recall the cost, but it is all done without removing the transmission, so the it wasn't too bad.

Double check the spring clip that connects the clutch pedal to the cylinder. The day after I picked the truck up the clip busted (or wasn't installed correctly) and I was stranded in the middle of an intersection with the clutch pedal resting against the firewall.

The shop graciously towed my truck 20 miles and fixed the problem (with a little egg on their face).

The clutch m/cyl - slave is pretty easy to change as they're both outside the trans. but the pilot bearing requires removal of the trans. which can bring a high labor cost.

The slave/cyl are sold as a sealed unit system by Dodge and I hear they're pretty expensive - maybe about $500. (?). Some people have reported being able to buy either part seperately from aftermarket vendors like NAPA at substantial savings. Hopefully someone will come along with details.
