Can somebody go out and look under their 6 speed transmission to see if the transmission mounting cushion is the same as the one on the 5 speed? A two piece deal with the exhaust hanger stuck in it?

Thanks. Brian

I was just about to go out in the garage with my digital camera and take a picture for you, and then remembered that I don't have a truck anymore.

Hi Brian

The 6-speed mount is different than the 5 speeds. If you are changing to a 6-speed you can make an adapter to use the 5-speed mount. The 6-speed has a hanger the bolts to the trance it would be easy to make the too.

I have changed two 5-speeds to 6-speeds. Let me know if you need more info.

The '98 and up trucks will use the same transmission mount when converting from a 5 speed to 6 speed, just install the original mount in the rear slotted holes in the crossmember. You do have to fab a little as the exhaust hanger is in the wrong place after the conversion. On '97 back to'94 you can fab a mounting plate and use the OEM rubber 5 speed mount or put in a later model crossmember from the salvage yard. Not hard at all.
