Hey guys . . Just looking at some new trucks (07's) .

I noticed at 100 km/h (60 mp/h) the 6 speed runs at around 2100 rpm is this normal on these trucks? Dealer says 3. 73 gears but im calling Shenanigans on him .

if it has a G56 then that is about right. that was one reason for me upgrading to the 19. 5's. this brought my speed to ~67 mph at 2000 RPM.

ALL G56 transmissions, (reverse is Down and left by second) have 3. 73's and are = to an NV5600 with 4. 10's. if you are looking at an NV5600 with 3. 73 then it would have to have smaller tires on it to get that speed with 2100 RPM.

I've got the NV5600 with a 4. 10 rear end. 2000 rpm = 62 mph w/ OEM 17" tires.

245-60-17's or 265-70-17's?

i have only seen one or two trucks, with the 245's, but it happens... .

he could have been driving a truck with 245's

also, check your spedo against a GPS, you would be surprised to see how far off it is... .

I just picked up my 06, and I hate how with each generation of transmission has a slower OD. A few more generations and we'll be crusing at 3000 rpm. These trucks have more than enough power to cruise 75 mph under 2000 rpm, not closer to 2500!! It may be time to get an aux. gear box.

mine with my 285/70/17's runs 2,000 rpm at 65mph. which is much better than i was seeing before my truck was one of which had the 245's on it stock. so what a difference tires made for me.

mph rpm

70 2,150

75 2,350

80 2. 500

GWBourne,

That's LT265/70R17E tires on 17"X8" rims. In the measured mile, the truck clocks an honest 60 seconds at 60 mph. :-laf That's dead on in my book. The tach is sitting just below 2000 rpm, maybe 1900 or 1850 for an indicated 60 mph.

Where have you seen a Cummins turn 4500rpm? Just because its in a Suburban doesn't make it turn any faster.
