The shift pattern indicator keeps turning. Anyone have an idea how to fix this? I've already had the dealer attempt to fix it and don't really want to take the truck in just for this.

Mine started to do it so I took the rubber boot off and unscrewed the stick and tightened it back to where it is straight. I think it's trying to do it again, so I'm going to put some lock-tite on the threads next time.

No need to remove the actual stick. It's just a little piece of plastic that is spining. Take a small flat screwdriver and pop out the shift patern piece and put it back in the way you want it. A bit of glue will keep it from spinning. Easy fix.

Yeah that little sucker is down in there too!:mad: I was trying to be "easy" with mine when I changed over to Eaton Fuller knob. After several failed attempts I quit trying. Was in the stealer for something, and asked a tech about it. He told me it was down in there pretty deep, and I told him I didn't want to mess it up and asked him if he would pry it out for me. It was about a good 1/2" down in there:eek:

Good question. I kept forgetting to ask it. My indicator is upside-down. Which doesn't bother me, but you should see the looks I get when I let others drive it. :eek:

hey Mark, is the knob threaded on or press-fit?

Wade I thought I told you the "whole story" :-laf

There is so little difference in the size of the threads on the stick and the EF knob that there was no adapter made. :{

Girl friends dad took it and the retaining nut for the factory knob to a machinest buddy. He drilled the EF knob installed a heli-coil and then drilled and tapped that!:eek:

Her dad STILL had to twist that sucker on!! I tried to reinstall my factory one last week, and I couldn't budge the dang EF.

Could be because her dad is 6'4 280lbs and I'm like 5'10 150(soaking wet!):rolleyes:

Got Smoke, wasn't it more like drilled, tapped, and then installed Heli Coil. If it took that much force to twist on or off it sounds like a US on metric or vice versa. Don't mind me, just a anal machinest.

If you'll remove just the shift pattern button and put a piece of 1/2" foam under it that should work. It's kept mine from moving/rotating for 30,000+ miles.

I honestly don't know because I wasn't present at the time. I was just told that he installed a heli-coil then drilled and tapped it to fit the threads on my shifter, and it still wasn't perfect. But I don't know anything about machining:(
