6 speed shifter handle loose

My shifter handle started rattling on the way back from Las Vegas this weekend. I gave it a twist and sure enough it was a bit loose. Trouble is it continued rattling intermittanly. I had to position the shifter boot in just the right place on the shift lever to stop the rattlling. Off to the dealer I guess...

D/C should promote their "Oil filter installation" guy to the "Shift lever installation" position on the assembly line.

You mean the whole stick is turning, or just the knob? If it's the stick, you can pull up the boot (just clips into the console) and put a wrench to it.

Just the shifter knob turns on mine. Takes a week for the shift pattern display to do a 360. I taped each in place to determine just what part was turning as nothing was loose and I couldn't get anything to turn by hand. It's the shifter knob. Funny I can't get it to turn by hand, but it rotates a little each day.



Not that huge a deal to take it back to the dealer. Pete
