2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 6-speed shifter knob removal

Does anyone know how to remove the shift knob on a 2002 Dodge Quad cab without cutting it off? I need to remove it so I can install an aftermarket knob. Also, is the shaft threaded, and if so, what type of thread size?

you have to pry out the insert from the Knob. Then there is a nut under it. I think the threads are 10mm

Tom is right on, thread is 10mmx1. 25.
