Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 6 Speed to Automatic

I have a 6 speed 2001 Dodge Cummins. I am getting old and lazy. Is there after market to change from my 6 speed to automatic transmission? Has anyone done it. I just became a member of this forum so if info is available please point me in the correct direction. TIA.

Now, he sounds serious about buying the six speed!



The slush box is not the way to go if you tow. Rowing through the gears is what towing is about.

It has been done, some members on here swapped trannies 6 spd for auto. It seems like it is a bit tricky on the ecm side of the swap. If you're going to do this without a donor truck, I would expect the cost to be a big factor.



Hopefully those that have done the swap will chime in.

Considering the cost of a project like that, you may want to sell your truck and buy a different one that has an auto from the factory, that is, if you don't have a lot of mods done to your current truck. Just my 2 cents.
