I'm sorry for the misinformation, I was told that it was that way when I turned off overdrive by the salesman . Its not like I drove 50 miles with the truck, just got on the freeway for a couple miles so I guess next time I'm considering a new truck I'll keep it in mind, but it better make me breakfast as well as shift :-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf, I like manuals. ;)

I've got the G56 also, nicest shifting transmission I've ever had. I've got 124,000 miles on the stock asy including the dual mass clutch flywheel stuff. I've been given quotes of aroun d $1500 for the south bend solid flywheel clutch kit and around $700 to have it installed. I'm getting close to having to get it done. After having three trucks with auto trannys the controll that you have over the truck with the manual is awesome

I totally love my NV5600 on my 05 3500 DRW, however If I were going to upgrade to a new Ram, which I'm not, I'd get a 3500 C&C with the Aisin auto transmission.

I am with you Grizzly. I love my NV5600 too. My brother did end up getting a 07. 5 w/ the 6. 7L and Aisin auto transmission. Sweet truck, quiet, power, and the transmission is awesome. If I upgrade some day, that will be what I get.

I've never had a truck with an automatic and I never thought I ever would, but I sure like what I hear about the Aisin auto.

My first CTD was a '91 with the 3 speed 727. That sucked big time. But driving his truck with the Aisin, it had the pull of lowering gearing like a stick. Not the lug of waiting that his 06 has.

Drove both last weekend. What a difference a transmission makes in acceleration and driveabitlity. His takes off with almost the feeling of us using a cross between 1st and second gear on our NV's. Not too crazy about the interiors though.

I bet it's a great transmission.

Where about in Oregon are you. I have a brother in Grants Pass that I visit about every 4 years. I love the Rogue River that goes near his house.

The Rogue is awesome. I heard they have good fishing out of that river. Did a jet boat tour thing once on that river.

I live up near salem, a few hours from Grants Pass.

Pulling a 6% grade or more with ambient temps over 100* at 22K GCVW, I'll take the manual over the auto every time. Its the city driving I would prefer the auto, but when I connect up with my 5ver, I forget real quick about that.

Everyone has their preference but the issue that a lot of owners overlook is the heat generated by the auto, and in the South West in July, the morning temperatures can be as high as 90*, with the highs running at 110* or more.

You're trying awfully hard but it's still a "No Sale" on the six speed manual.

The cooling system of the new ISB6. 7 and Aisin remains perfectly normal when pulling the combined 25,000 lbs. of my C&C and HitchHiker fiver in extremely hot weather. The trans temp gauge hardly climbs off the lower peg and the engine never gets above about 205*.

Transmission confusion?

There may be some confusion here. Did your brother buy the Cab & Chassis or the Pickup? Only the Cab & Chassis has the Aisin six speed auto, the Pickup has the 68FRE speed auto. Both have had good reports of reliability, but the 68FRE is made by Dodge.

He bought the pickup. I guess I was wrong then on his transmission thats its not the Aisin, I just assumed it was and didnt know there where two 6 speed autos available.
