Well, I'm up to a couple hundred miles now on the new pickup and so far I'm really pleased. I can see why so many of you guys get the 6 spds... that is such a great shifting transmission... I love it.

I was trying to get the seat belt chime thing turned off this evening. I followed the instructions in the owners manual, but couldn't get it to work. Tried it a number of times. Any one else have problems with this???? I asked the dealer to do that and to turn off the door lock thing... which they did, but said they wanted me to turn off the seat belt reminder. Guess I should have had someone at the dealership help me on the spot. Thanks for any info!

Mine worked according to the manual instructions. Had to do it a couple of times, due to slow timing. You have to unbuckle and rebuckle that belt three times in ten seconds. Easy to go over that.

I may be dumb, but I can't find the procedure for turning off the chime in my owners manual. I can only find the part where they mention "a chime will sound to alert you if a seatbelt is unbuckled".

I found it page 33 of my owners manual and got it right the first time, thank goodness that chime was driving me crazy. I think it is titles Occupant restraint system of something like that.

Hope it helps

The procedure

Here's how I did mine:

Get in truck and buckle up,THEN start truck. Wait for seat belt idiot light to go out. Most make the mistake of starting before buckling. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle you have to do this in less than 10 seconds time: unbuckle, buckle... unbuckle, buckle... unbuckle, buckle... then turn off truck and a single chime will sound. Keep in mind you only have 10 seconds to perform the unbuckling and buckling 3 times and get the truck shut off. And you only have 60 seconds from the time you start the truck. Hope this works for you.

It took me about 4 attempts to get it done. I have no idea what I was doing wrong. I like that it still chimes when you first start up and that the light stays on if you don't buckle up. I always wear mine anyway.

I finally got mine to work today now too. Thankfully that thing doesn't ding like crazy now every time I take off down the road!

I've gotta try it again on my truck. I don't know what's more frustrating... the dang chime or the fact that I tried several times to disable it and it wouldn't work

I always wear mine while driving, but when working on it, or when hitching the trailer, I don't want to hear that annoying, "nagging-like-my-wife" chime!!

I always wear mine, no exceptions on the road. But hauling hay and having to jockey the trailer around and running across the pasture, making stops, it got on my nerves, doing short distances in the field, so, I turned it off.

It took me a few times to figure out what I was doing wrong. I think the manual has a mis-print. It says to buckle and unbuckle three or more times. I think you have to do it THREE times ---- no more or less.

At least that is what ended up working for me.

PS - I asked dealer to turn off after I got disgusted and couldn't get it turned off (I was buckling/unbuckling 4 times just to be sure) but they refused. Something to do with legal issues.

NJTackle,

I think your right on the three buckle thing. The few times I did it, I was buckling 4 times. The next day I tried three, and it worked on the first time.
