Competition GLENFORD Oh PULLS

Competition Rob Thomas: WINNER!!!?????

I'm looking to improve on my 60' times. My problem as it stands right now is traction. I can only leave with 12psi boost. Any more then that and the tires slip for a split second.

I would like to know what your 60' times are, and what kind of tires your running. My worn out michelin ltx m/s tires just aren't cutting it anymore.

Thanks,

Chris

The truck weighs right around 7100lbs, maybe a little more. The average of all my 60's with the current setup is 1. 78sec. I need more grip. Anything over 12psi and the tires break traction.

Chris

Matt,

I've tried airing them down, within reason. It helped a tiny bit, i think. The times were so close on average that it's hard to tell.

Thanks,

chris

Weight would be the easiest thing to help you. Our old white truck was 6700# and we could launch at 15-25psi with no wheelspin (maybe 1/2 of a revolution max). Best we ever turned was a 1. 83, but that was with the torque limiting... it may have gone quicker if that was out.

I would look into some newer/stickier tires as well.

Keith,

I guess i didn't make my question too clear. Sorry about that. What i'm trying to figure out is what kind of streetable tires are working well for people at the track. I've found the traction limit of these worn ltx m/s tires. Shaving weight would help, but i need the gooseneck hitch, reciever hitch, etc. :) It's going to stay pretty heavy, for now at least.

thanks,

Chris

Timmy Helms 'TopFuel6' seems to be having VERY good luck with the Mickey Thompson ET's... he's been cutting some insane 60ft. times. Then again - he has a (12-valve!! ) regular cab... aka - rusty old plow truck.

MT ET's aren't exactly a 'streetable' tire on our trucks...

Hey Timmy - I was the guy who turned that truck from a daily driven plow/landscaping truck into a fire breathing monster.

I did the 370's and GSK on that thing WAY back when Brian owned it.

That MF Fisher hydraulic plow pump kept getting in my way when I did the KDP on it too... :-{}

Matt

while you were turning it in to somthing i wish you would have took the 400 yards of BS wiring that was on ot off, you could have saved me a few days,

trucks coming along nicely now, just had a linex sprayed in the bed friday, looks great with the new cage, now for the rest of the truck

Come on, Tim... I know Brian had at least 500 yards of extra BS wiring in that truck. :-laf

Get this - I remember when that truck was sitting in a used car lot (Fairbanks Auto Body - Fitchburg, MA). I used to drive past it twice a day on my commute to college...

370s on the bench now, something new scott's having me try jector wise, should be @ the track fri or sat night with all the new goodys, got to add about 300 lbs to the truck so the crying will stop, their just gonna speed up thos insane 60s they just don't know it yet though

Scott has some awesome injectors these days... I can't wait until I have another turbo added onto both of my trucks... then I can burn more fuel.

Your 60ft. times are SICK, man... :--)

Hey Timmy, who's crying? Go as fast as you can go, any way you can do it. After all, first one to the end of the track wins. right??? :p

yeh,old junk hooks hard, took out overload spring and installed a set of 3 way adjustables, and the ETs are a huge help also,i haven't rode in anything that pulls this hard since my outlaw prostreet ride, its best was a 4. 80 @ 150 1/8, 802 sonny leonard and glide,ALL MOTOR,truck just doesn't seem to run as well as a few of the others in the 1/8 though, perrys ride went 7 flat, my best is 7. 25,still looking ,we'll get there, they ain't gonna stop this old boy with their weight rules

We used to run the BFG A/T's on the white truck. I have the LTX M/S's now and they are pretty good. Any new/fresh tire will be better than those old ones you are on. :)

Chris,

The Nitto Grapplers I have now are much softer and have more pavement grip than the BFG's I used to run ;) The only down side is they are wearing faster

Although I still spun them(all 4) into 2nd launching my 8000 lb brick at 15 lbs. to a 1. 87 60' ;)
