I purchased a "On The Vehicle" valve spring compressor. It was not handy to use, so I had to modify it to work in and around the heater lines and other obsticles.

Pic of the old and new. I don't know how in the world guys use this tool with out modifying it. The original handle sets to low and "everything" is in the way. That cam operation is no walk-in-the-park either.

Took me some time. This was my first go around. I began with the tool as it came in the box... ..... @%$#$ NO FUN!!!

I had this job down after I did a few with my (modified) handy tool!

I also replaced the valve (stem)seals. You have to readjust all the valves ,naturally. I simply followed the fireing order and turned the engine in running direction. The valve will not "fall down" when the piston is at TDC.

To find TDC I simply turned the engine over till I felt the resistance and turned the valve adj screw down. If it goes down too far, then I'm not at TDC.

You'll need a torque wrench. I tightened the head bolts to 122 lb foot. The small cap's are to 18 lb ft

Scott, I bought the same tool. It got the stock ones off the head, during my extended, expensive, head porting, ordeal. It took all I had to get the 60 pounders out of the head. I had the luxury of being able to use the old C style and used it on the install. Nice going on the modification of that silly compressor. I also had a hell of a time with the cam action. Had one spring fly off and spent a half a hour finding the keepers.
