Lifted my hood last night on my 600 and was squinting at a new selenoid I put in during the day (for camper power) and my son said... "Where is your underhood light?" He showed me the space it was to go in. I was at church this afternoon picking up kids and looking at a 98 12 valve. He had a light. Sigh... . George

In the list of things to complain about with a vehicle, lack of underhood lighting is livable, in my opinion. ;)

Hey geusterman one of the options I ordered was the light group (ADA option code).

Light Group

MSRP: $175. 00

Ash Tray Lamp

Front Dome Lamp with On/Off Switch

Underhood Lamp

Rearview Mirror with Auto-Dimming Feature

Sun Visors with Illuminated Vanity Mirrors

I just pulled this infor off the DC website .

Did you order that option? If not I would have thought also that the underhood light should have been standard equipment. Simple equipment, but DC is charging for those "simple pleasures" now

King Jay is right. The light is in the option group. Does anyone ever actually use this small light anyway? I need a full trouble light to see under the hood. Doc

No light in mine either. It wan't even a option on my '03 when I ordered. Maybe because I ordered mine so early??? I wish I had something under there.

You can buy the light over the counter from the dealer for about $32 then buy the plug at a Napa store and wire it in to a constant hot source and your done. Larry

Always something, huh? Just when you think underhood lights are normal like getting tires and a muffler they drop one of them. The "plug" llotton is refering to must be the switch or is the switch there? I see a light, wiring to a hot source and a good switch so the light really does go off when hood is shut. Thanks men. George

What I meant by the "Plug" is the connector which connects wires to the light fixture. The light has a switch in it which turns the light on and off. I used a painless wiring box with four ignition hot and three constant hot circuts. I'm going to install a second light on the other side of the hood next. Larry

Thanks Larry. Good tip. I have other apps for a box like that as well. I think I saw something like that in the Geno's catalog.

Big Bob... . can you believe a hood light as a high-end option? They do that so I will order another truck in a few years... . not realizing they are leaving the spare tire off. Or the lumbar support... or the adjustable steering wheel... . over the years I am sure it is marketing... . not forgetfulness! George
