Testing

Hmmm... . 2 choices for edge.

1. Sell the boxes to people with a 600 to test at $299.

2. Buy their own 600 to test the box on. ~ $35000

So the first 117 boxes would be covered cost wise if they had to purchase their own truck to test on. Plus they are getting "real world" results from a wide variety of driving styles and locations.

I feel the are offering a good deal for themselves.

If they feel the need to charge for the prototype box, that's fine. However, when they get the results and do release the "updated" box, they need to let the testers have the new one at the $299. None of this credit toward the $599 price crap.

I have to agree with Bert. If they want their product beta tested then they should supply them at no cost and agree to fix any damage caused by their product. I feel the tester is taking a HUGE risk. Of course I'm a believer in STOCK so you couldn't give me a box load of them for free.
If you don't want to participate,DON"T,you need not rag on the manufacturer that chooses to go to the real world to do their testing, that's better than doing it on the user after the product has been released to the consumer. If you don't want to play don't sign up,it's that simple.

Sherman,

It's an open forum, who are you to tell anyone not to comment on a post here?

I am just pointing out the facts. Edge deserves to be raged on. Edge has been a member here for all this time, no doubt seeing all the questions about when stuff will be available. Then they only choose to post when they want beta testers? How about answering questions from time to time? There have been countless threads they could have resonded to and provided information about thier products, it would certainly make people think Edge is interested in taking care of thier "core" customers.

It's my understanding that they WILL do that! Obviously, if you're beta testing a box, and it has problems, they're going to give you a new one or upgrade the software for free, up until the released version. He never said $299 toward the purchase of the final released box, he said $299 toward the purchase of the JUICE which is a totally different box than the one to be beta tested. That's the whole point of the price break, it's like saying "here's a $300 discount for helping us work the bugs out". I don't see a problem with that, as long as you're not counting on 100% perfection from day1 and are willing to give them some technical feedback. Man I can't believe how many people complain about having to pay for public beta testing when there's 100's of us out there that would jump on a deal like this in a heartbeat... they don't NEED you naysayers to beta test their box, so DON'T. my 2¢

It's not you say it's how you say it!

Juice:

I have to say that I think you guys assume too much. Maybe we have been your core customers in the past but to assume that for the future is a bit of a stretch considering the unfulfilled promises and subsequent silence that we have endured relative to the much anticipated Juice product.

At this time last year we were hearing that the Juice would be ready in the fall. Its been a long year. I dont think that to many of Edge's loyal customers on this board will tolerate another.

Keep us informed Juice. A lot of us are on your side. We want to buy your product. But we won't stand for getting jerked around for another 15 months. ;)

I support Edge's direction. I believe they are taking the right approach and not offering a product until it has been completely tested and bug free. Edge's beta boxes are as solid as many other vendors' generally available product. Since they are in business to sell product, I bet they've worked as hard to get their Juice out as anyone else has to get their boxes going. Yes, I've been waiting a long time also but hey, gives me more time to break the motor in and put other junk on the truck.

Hopefully the Juice will be out before the snow and ice hit... .

i thought i was searching the internet and came across some edge boxes for the 600 already. the idea of them just buying one box isn't a realistic test for them. they need many different engines to test it on since all engines are slightly different and could cause problems or whatnot.

Give Edge some credit... .

They do buy trucks and run the **** out of them in the real world and on the dyno before their products are beta tested. The beta is a good step to getting your feet wet before jumping in. I suspect most initial testing is in UT, beta testing would help in other elevations and climates. Everyone has different comfort levels with new products, if you want in great, if you prefer to wait, that's ok too.

I've got several forums I'm active on and I'm a vendor on some too. I've seen many examples of companies like Edge who get sucked into the forum and need a full time guy to answer all the myriad of (often duplicate) questions that are asked... . when the info is plainly available on their site. I've also seen companies burned at the stake with no judge, Jury (And often few facts) by angry web lynch mobs with too much time on their hands (IMHO).

Got a question- call and ask, I've always gotten answers. Don't get mad at them cause they didn't call you to see if you had questions. Is every manufacturer you like on the board 24/7?? It's not a bad thing to be real active on the board, but a significant business decision companies need to make for themselves.

This same argument goes for a lot of companies, a lot of biz decisions to be made. As for the Juice, I want one too, but I'd rather have one they are ready to release than something someone thinks is ready and throws a bunch of codes etc. In the mean time I've got 50k towing miles on my EZ, without any issues except for wearing out the rear tires :D

And yes, the product has been out for 10 days or so now.

Off the soapbox- happy towing

Ditto.

When your at work do you have time to surf the web and play around? Perhaps the folks at Edge don't. Also perhaps they don't take their work home with them, meaning that once they leave the office for the day, they don't surf these boards. They are under no type of commitment to come here and answer questions, even more so when you look at the fact that they have their own web forum on their site, and a customer service phone number. Unless they hire someone to come here and post answers then do not expect it from them because they are under no obligation to do so. Mark Chapple, Chip, and MANY others do not go out of their way like this, and only a very limited few do. Now you want to talk bad about someone trying to cut some people in on a deal? If you aint got the guts to step up and beta test, then don't yap from the front porch.

Stepping off the soap box,

Andrew

I can't imagine anyone subjecting their new Dodge to an unproven engine upgrade when they are puting their engine and warranty at risk for no gain other than to Edge.
