mpg

just turned 11000 miles and last 2 tanks mpg is 18. 2, hand calc. None of this was hwy. mileage. On trip to Fla. ,1200 miles each way, avg 14mpg at 75 to 80mph. Truck had less than 3000 miles on it when I left. I have 4x4 6spd. and 373 rear. I doubt I'll see 20mpg ever. BTW over head computer reads 2mpg less than hand calc.

A 4x4 w/4. 10 & auto will be almost the worst combo for mileage. Just add the dually and then you do have the worst combo.

Best combo for MPG's would be a 2wd, SRW, 3. 73, 6spd.

i ahve 04 qc 4x4 6spd with 4. 10 gears. stock the truck will get 14 to 15 mpg at 60 to 70mph. with a banks 6gun on 4 it jumped 2 miles to the gallon. i have babied it and got 19. but it normaly stays around 14. 5. i had a o1 with 3. 73 gears. miss the 21 mpg.

MPG with 48RE

Our truck is a 3500 SRW with 48RE and 3. 73. The best I have seen so far is 19. 2 hand calculated and running 62/63 MPH with cruise control on. That was allmost no city driving. If I drive the normal 70 to 75 it drops. I do not remember how many miles I had on the truck then but I think it was about 7000 to 8000. I now have 11000 but have not checked it close recently. Good luck with your decision.....

600 mileage

o4. 5 600 2500 quad cab 4X4 long bed 48RE 373 gear I average 15 in town and 17. 5 highway (all mpg hand calc). I don't baby it or try for good mileage I just drive. Highway speeds are usually 75 -80 mph. Haven't had the TSB reflash done yet, hope to see some improvement afterwards.

With a 6sp, 2wd, and 3. 73 gears I've been seeing consistant mid 20's over the past several tanks. Daily commuting and driving conservatively.

Just did the fuel tank mod and was able to fill the tank to within about 1/2 gallon of full when it shut off the pump. It saved me a ton of time at the station getting it filled up to the brim. I'd definately recommend it.

I have had my New quad cab 4x4 for two month. Hand cal average both in twon and high 14. 9. Just had the TSB unk on hand cal but overhead 15. 9 to 17. I have an auto with 4. 10 rear. I thought I would get better then this but I guess I was wrong.

600 mileage

I have an 04. 5 qc long bed 6spd with 21000 miles. With an ez on a freeway trip I got 19. 2 on overhead calculator. Now I'm testing the juice and only getting 15. Figure that. The ez jumped me about 2 mpg around town. Havent had the reflash done yet. We'll see if that helps

If my truck was getting those figures, i wouldnt let the dealer touch it. 17mpg at 80mph??? :-laf right! I would invest in a new calculator. Im sorry but there is no way those figures could be correct. my guess is you are not filling to the top of the neck on both fill ups.

I have a 04. 5, QC LB with the 48re and 4. 10's. After the TSB and with 35's on the truck, my fuel mileage is mid 16's with some highway, some city and only getting about 450 miles per tank. I would agree that this combo is bad for fuel mileage. I would definetly look at getting the 6 speed with 3. 73's if you don't need the truck for towing.

BlueRam2500

I have the same basic truck as you except for the 4. 10's... I have 3. 73 gears. I do average between 17. 5-18. 5 with aprox 50% highway and 50% around town. My best mileage to date was 22mpg on a trip to Maine which I never exceeded 65mph. The highway miles I intentionally try to keep the speed at no more than 65mph. Anything above that and my mileage goes down. A question I have for you is how you are getting 16's getting only 450 miles per tank? My tanks are usually 600-700 miles per tank. Is your speedo off from the 35" tires?

Love my truck... . Hate the price of diesel. .

Thanks, Jeff

I fueled up my truck yesterday, and with 450 on the tripometer and only 27 gallons of fuel taken, it was 16. 6 MPG. I have had the TSB, but my DTE has not gone up, so maybe the TSB was not performed on my truck. I am aware that people are getting 650-700 miles per tank, so I guess the flash was not done. My speedo has been corrected, it had to go back to the dealer twice before they got it right, so maybe I have to take the truck to a different dealer to see if the TSB was done on the truck.

I have to disagree. Can you please give your logic behind NOT towing with the 6 speed?

I think it's the 3. 73 gears he's mainly refering to. I wouldn't haul a really heavy load with those gears but I also wouldn't haul it with an auto.

If you are hauling heavy loads on a daily basis, the 4. 10's are your logical choice. IMO, and I should have clarified this in my previous post, the 48re and the 6 speed and 4. 10's are good for towing. My logic was never not to tow with the 6 speed. Remember, some people buy CTD's strictly for power and fuel economy, not to tow heavy loads all the time.

I understand now thanks. You are right. If I was towing heavy on a daily basis I would have the 4. 10's as well. I wouldn't tow anything with the auto unless it was heavily modified.

I bought mine to do all of the above. Power, fuel economy, towing, comfort, ride etc...
