After moving from my '01 to my 04. 5, I am still amazed at how quiet the motor is. I do miss the diesel "sound" a little, but I'm getting a little older and swear that the last 4 years in my old truck have made my hearing worse.

With the new 600 I can actually hear myself think . I didn't even know I was thinking the whole time I was driving the '01! :p

aHHhhh - but *I* am slightly hearing impaired - so NEED the sound of my mighty Cummins to reassure me I'm still alive... :D :D :p

If I had a "quiet" motor, I might as well be DEAD! :D

I at first really missed the noise of my 96' , But now I like the quiet power, also like being able to leave for a race early or get back late and not bother the neighbors. :D

10,500 miles 4 months + of ownership and lovin' it!;)

just open up that exh. if its to quiet Mine with my 4in and TST empty or towing will turn some heads from a ways away. But the best part is going through those enclosed overpasses or tunnels, That just rocks! Gotta love that cummins roar. Never heard a V8 sound near as good!

mattymac,

What is the part number for your FLowmaster muffler? Did you purchase it as part of an exhaust system or as a stand alone muffler?

-Carl (Takomax)

Its actually just a 4" magnaflow muffler with my stock pipes in place and a piece of pipe where the CAT was. Sounds awesome with slight drone (nothing bad at all) but when you stand on it this set up really turns some heads! As for part #'s it doesnt have any on the muffler but its a standard 4" straight through muffler by Magnaflow in their diesel applications I think, I can also get dementions if you want.

Damn Quiet 600. I used to be able to let out a full fledged FART in the old trucks. Now if I try to let out a little squeaker my wife hears it right away!!

Not only is it quieter but the vibration from the engine is lessened greatly. A mechanic was making fun of me. Said I would have to go through the truck and tighten everything back down at 100k. He was serious though. The new engine is so much smoother.

I can't imagine what a flowmaster would sound like. Brings a smile to my face!!! With what they have done for all my old gassers it would be either unbearably annoying or too incredible for words. :D

Dont' run a flowmaster. They are nothing but a plug on a turbo engine. I ran a flowmaster and lost 3-4 psi boost... . and the sound wasn't that sweet flowmaster sound... it was a big HISSSSS... . That was a 100 dollar lesson.
