Wheel studs/ lug nut torque question

I just rolled up 6500 on the clock. Been averaging 16. 8/17. 4 (hand calc) between fill ups. Always hit 30/31 gallons @ fill. Last week my mileage AND engine response was down to the extent that I noticed it. Today I checked the filter minder @ the air box and saw it was @ the mid point (green) headed toward red. I changed the oil/ filter(2nd since delivery) and fuel and air filters (1st). Drove about 75 miles afterward and the engine was VERY strong-- stronger than @ 4500 miles. Fuel filter and air filter were pretty dirty and sorta dirty respectively. During the past two months I've used the same four fuel depot's. All are high volume and the filters are changed frequently. My driving is from 25mph residential to 78mph freeway and am running the same circuit each week. Empty to 4k toy box at about the same frequency each week. My mileage hit 17. 9 after the 75 miles. (Refill and hand calc-- all fills are to the neck). This is an all time high for my 325/600. 76mph for 53 of the 75 miles. Also, boost is going to 34 for the first time @ WOT. (Autometer)

I guess I'll have to go to fleet guard--- the fuel and air filters were expensive- and I get a good discount.

Any simular experiences?

The Fleet filter is a MUCH better value. If you want to do it right I would reccomend installing the aFe replacement filter assembly. This cone shaped air filter has much more cfm capacity and your engine will appreciate that with added torque and HP. The change will also save you $$ in the long run for filter replacements alone IMHO.

I had a lot of dirt in the fuel filters on my 03. The 1st. filter was kind of clogged right from new. The second one was bad at the next service. They have been getting better since and I change fuel filter at every second oil change. They are not getting nearly as dirty so I am thinking the new tanks etc. may not be to clean. Also I think this "new" fuel we are getting may have something in it that the filters are catching. At least the fuel filters for these engines are not real expensive. I think you would be quite happy with the AFE air filter. As far as the filter minder goes I don't think they are very accurate. Mine is always at 50 to 70% restricted and that is with a new clean filter.

The fuel filter on my '03 was black at 7k miles. The second one was only grey at 18K. I have noticed it runs much better once the filters are changed out.

Thanks for the responses--- I am stock and staying there. The owners manual addresses after market fuel filters. My 04,5 used to have a radical acceleration resonse @ 1600 to 2900 RPM'S. With the new air/fuel filter the response seems to be more gradual but, ET seems to be the same over a measured distance.

This is still the fasest CTD I've owned, but somehow feels different from the first 4500 miles. MPG is up--- sorta confusing-- the turbo shows more boost than I've experienced before but the "snap" seems different.
