Question, I have a 600 w about 16,000 miles on her in about as many weeks. What should my oil pressure be at idle. What should it be with the air on at idle. This truck reminds me of my 98 12v with the horton fan clutch, when I got to a light the air would go from cold to warm and humid. Same thing with this new truck. I saw a recent TSB in the TDR mag, I was wondering if this was for my truck, she was built Jan 9, 04.

Other queestion, I have to wipe the inside on my windshield like everyday to get the film off. It reminds me of my old 911. Is this normal? Or is it because I have leather seats. Its a real pain everyday or other to have to wipe the whole windshield clear.

On the 3rd Gen trucks, the oil pressure gauge is a fake. On the engine, there is only an oil pressure switch, not a sending unit. If the switch tells the computer there is oil pressure, the computer just plays with the gauge to make you think it's really working.

Makes you feel cheated, don't it?

Ramrod,

Don't feel bad about your A/C. Mine isn't that spectacular either. I returned to the dealer recently to have the gas charge checked for basically the same problem as yours. Turns out there was too much 134a in the system from the factory.

After a complete evacuation and recharge, it works better in traffic. Our cooling fans don't seem to drag enough air over the condenser at idle for effective A/C.

Now onto the dreaded windshield slyme... don't worry it's not your leather. This is caused by the PVC (polyvinylchloride) content in the interior plastics. The phenomena that causes the film is called "offgassing", and is an unfortunate byproduct of PVC. Mine seems worse if the truck is closed up tight in hot/humid weather.

If the film really makes you nuts, you might try...

1. Allow some ventilation into the truck if you park it in the sun all day.

2. Get a dash-mat or cover the dash with some old towels when parked.

3. Wait a few years, the "slyming" should subside with time.

Hope this helps,

V

:)
