I have a few wandering thoughts to share regarding the 600's and the fueling issues. I may be nuts, but it would'nt be the first time... ...
Many have reported that the 600's run hot, even stock. Adding a box, namely a pressure box can send the EGT's through the roof. This is no major surprise, as one of the touted improvements to the 600 was the added injection event. It accomplished a variety of issues, including quieter running and MORE POWER, hence the 325/600 rating.
Now, when I owned a 97' and a 01' Cummins, the secret for max power was fuel, and air. Now that DC has already added the fuel, increased the exhaust size, and maximized the breather tube, doesn't it make sense that these motors run hotter?
And it also makes sense to me that if you encores fueling with a third injection event, you are adding more fuel to each burn cycle, thus lowering the fuel available in the tank for moving the truck. It is probably not much percentage wise, but the added fuel has to come from somewhere. Sure I would like to get the same mileage that I got in the 2500 2WD six speed, I just think that a heavier, dual wheel 4X4 3500 has to be harder to push.
Overall it is still a GREAT truck. And that red is sexy as hell... .....
I may be way off base, and if I am, say so!!:-{}
