Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 60mm Pinwheels

I plan on getting a kit from HTT to turn my stocker into a 35/40 hybrid. My question to you guys, is which of the 60mm compressors would work best in my situtation?



I want the turbo to be able to hold egt's down at the highest possible HP. The truck is streeted/daily driver, no sled pulling or drag racing. Some heavy towing will be done.



The turbo will also be used as the top to a set of twins someday, to be producing something in the neighborhood of 500hp.



What do you guys think?



Also, is "zero balancing" a gimmick?



And what other BOMBs can be done besides the larger pinwheel and porting?

When you consider that a turbo spins at over 100,000 rpm, even a tiny fraction of a gram of extra weight a little off center can cause them to come apart. I've never understood how a compressor or tubine wheel can be replaced without balancing the assembly, such as when a person does this at home. But people seem to get away with it. Ever notice how the nut holding the compressor wheel is ground here and there? My guess is that's part of the balancing process.



So, in brief, I don't believe zero-balancing is a gimmick. But I'm not an engineer... I could be wrong

Yes, and yes (the year before last, the first time; missed it last year). We usually do a dyno day in the spring and fall. Typically in May for the spring one.
