Well, I got new tires for my 2004. 5 2500 2WD last week. I tow a 31 foot HEAVY LQ horse trailer with it. I would have thought after 64000 miles the brakes would probably needs replacing . . atleast on the front!!! I am not easy on them, trust me... and towing especially.

Took the truck in, guy comes back 20 minutes later and says I don't need brakes... . 85% left on the fronts, 95% left on rear. YES, I have a brake controller, but those numbers were crazy. . he even showed me. .

He said ONLY CHEVY's has he seen that kind of pad life. . The Duramaxi comes with 100,000 mile brakes. He was AMAZED... . is this normal or am I just lucky???? Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

I believe it! My 03 has 153,000 plus miles on it and still has over 50% left on the brakes. I do not have a exhaust brake I'm just easy on them. Oh and by the way over 100,000 of those miles were pulling fifth wheel trailers. I am a trailer transporter and there are three mountain passes I go over on my normal route, Rogers pass MT, Lookout pass MT, and 4th of July pass ID.

Just put new Michelins on mine last week, so I took a look see at the pads and all 4 corners still looked like new!! Oo. not bad for 106k miles. Pretty impressive for the weight that finds its way on to the truck on a regular basis!!
