Here is the oil sample analysis for one of my customers. He has a 97 3500 with 650,939 miles on it. He has never has any engine work done and has always used Rotella 15w40 and stratapore filters that he bought from me. Let me know what you guys think. I believe this is a testament to good maintenance. He typically changes oil anywhere from 6000 to 8000 miles depending on how busy he's been.

It looks extremely good to me.

All of the oil sample result sheets that I have seen, the lab will highlight an area if a field is outside of normal range.

I have even had them call me if a field is way excessive, as well.

DLewis, I use Rotella in my '95 also, although at only 140,000 miles, mine is still a youngster! I have thought for a long time that proper maintenance is the key to getting a lot of miles out of these Cummins.

By the way, is the truck an Auto or Stick? And is it bombed?

Thats great!! Good testament to a well designed engine and Rosmella too!!

My brother is a PSD freak, he has 3, yes 3. He always sells or trades them at 150k miles because after that mileage they cost too much to maintain :-laf Sure glad I have 2 CTD's, thanks for sharing the info.

The truck is an automatic and is bone stock. Whats even more amazing is that the transmission hasn't been touched as far as I know. He also lets this truck idle for hours at a time while he's sleeping and so forth. I love it too. I have 5-6 customers with 500,000 miles or more on their Dodges and the best PSD is at 350,000.

milage

I feel releieved as I have about 600,000 plus on my 96 with dtt auto. Always wondering when something would go boom on a trip such as the turbo but nothing happens as it keeps on ticking. used rotella until about 300,000 and dodge deealer said not good oil, said to use delo 400 so I switched. change oil at about every 8,000. what do they know anyway. I received a promotinal flyer from the dealer where I bought the truck 6 years ago, they estimated that my 100,000 mile checkup might be due. :D rvpilot
