Luke,

I dont think anyone is knocking your truck or numbers.

I was just saying that the DD dyno is great to dyno on for a truck like yours... at least thats my experience.

Last time I dynoed on a DD was back in 2003 when I had a 99 Cummins that put down 501hp on the same exact type of dyno.

You definitely have the setup for 600+hp no matter what any dyno says.

That's where I made the mistake... I should've just put the hammer down :D :D
Naw. . you did the smart thing, even with your massive torque I doubt it would be a match for radios and this thing-

#ad

I knew you weren't knocking the numbers I was just confused a little. :D So does his dyno help autos with big singles because it can load better? Im still trying to figure out how dynos work differently. Do they all not load like Johns does?

They don't all load like the Dyno Dynamics does. I've found the numbers from the Dyno Dynamics dynos to more closely match the hp numbers you get by figuring your weight and 1/4 mile mph. The Dynojets measure higher on my over 500hp truck. The Dyno Dynamics is supposed to be the most accurate dyno out there.

No they dont, John can dial up resistance in the dyno drums so you are pushing against the drums. Its kind of like revving the engine in nuetral, you can not build much boost at all. With resistance its like you are pushing against the pavement in a on road situation.

I believe he is referring to the pop that some have had while running the tst/BDDL stack. I no longer have it. I hate to say what I think caused it :(

I'm a little confused about you being disqualified or numbers discarded if you hit OD. If that were the case couldn't you just lock out OD?

Now having said that, at Diesel Thunder here in Spokane us folks with auto,s just ran them up through the gears real easy till they were in OD, let the torque converter lock up (about 65mph) and then lay the fuel to it.

Are we wrong? At both Shelly's and Davis Diesel it was done the same way! Any comments?

I thought all the Diesel dyno runs were being done the same. Guess there is confusion on these trucks too, might have to wait till I get to an event and get one done then. I only brought it up because on my last truck on the dynojet it would never properly load the rollers and get true nubers after a couple mods. Plus the turbos will not get enough to run right from what I have seen first hand. Did not want to start problems.

Again, Luken some awesome numbers no matter what. And more importantly is it has gotta be a blast to drive.

all the dynos i have seen have been at a 1-1 ratio, for an auto is third gear, you will get a difference in a higher gear  --from what i have seen.

a freind of mine is thinking of doing that very stack next weekend for the reedsville wv dyno ...

could you elaborate so we could maybe prevent something going boom

What do you mean?

heres what i mean. even with a hard core(one rated 300gph regulated) fuel pump. the fuel is already warm when its the cyl and once in a blue moon if im on it for a while it will pop though the intake. i sloved it with a big line kit. but it was running the rail dry and its capped. I guess the man question was did you ever have a fueling problem.

Luken,

Really nice numbers. For what it's worth, when I dyno, it's strictly for a reference. Once you establish a baseline on a dyno, it gives you an idea of what your mods are doing for your truck. You can also figure your HP out mathematically using quarter mile et's, or top speed, and the weight of the vehicle. Just out of curiosity, I plugged your numbers into a horsepower calculator, assuming your truck weighs 7000lbs. Using your et, your hp came out to 649. Using your top speed, it came out to 688. It's not perfect, but it gives you a relative idea of what your numbers really are, and I would say the dyno did a pretty good job, too. Either way, really nice numbers.

I don't have a fuel supply problem. I have the big line kit too. The most my truck ever pulls down to is 40psi. The cp3 can't keep up. I hear a popping on a 1/4 run but Im told it's the rail popping because its going dry.

Those readings are pretty close to what the dyno said. The last few times I've checked the truck was inbetween 7100-7200. Thanks for plugging those in for me.

The green run is when I put tq management back on. It still put down 656 HP but the tq wasn't there and it didn't come on as soon.

Luke,

How do you turn torque management on/off? Is it on the Crazy Larry or TST?
