conversion, how hard compared to gas fuel injection?

Very Interesting Conversion

Well now that I have an engine the project is back to the top of the table. The truck is a 1968 M715 Kaiser/Jeep military pickup that I'm going to put a '95 CTD into:D Looks like for starters I will be running stock axles with 5. 87 gears and 40-44" tires and I have a 2wd NV4500 that I will run for now until I can trade for a 4wd transmission. I have I have tons of questions, but will start with just a few...

- How much is a stock replacement radiator, or should I start checking the junk yards?

- Wiring? I have the full harness but need to find out what I need to keep and what I need to make it run? Is there a manual that someone would recomend that has good wiring diagrams for the engine?

and a couple of small ones...

- what a Dana 80 out of a 95 3500 worth?

- what would a set of like new 215 Michlines on dually rims worth?

Would it get anyone upset if I posted a message of a list of all the parts I have to trade or sell and what I want? Seems like it would be kinda hard to get all that into the classified section...

If you're going to swap the rear end, I'd say skip the dana 80 and put a chevy corporate 14 bolt in there. The ring gear is an inch smaller, but the ground clearance is marginally better I'd think. And the important part is that the 14 bolt has a pinion support bearing on the end of the pinion, so it's almost indestructable for wheeling. And they're a dime a dozen. :) Only downside is I think they only go down to 5. 13's or 5. 38's. You might find a newer D60 though, and get rid of the closed knuckle Dana 60 I assume is on there now. .

Nope not going to run the Dana 80, I want to know how much I can sell it for:) I have one out of a dually sitting here, 3. 54 gears and almost no surface rust, looks excellent...

I'm going to run the stock axles/5. 87 gears for now, but that means I have to run a 42-44" tire to bring the revs down to a moderate level. I'd like to run 2. 5ton rockwells but that would add on another $5k+

Yep I'm on Pirate4x4 - lots of good info there, same name M715

m715,

A little off hte subject... . But I saw something that brought your ride to mind.

Check out www.gsaauctions.gov. They had several m715s for sale in many different configs/conditions.

Thought you migh want to know.

I bought my new project truck there. Its shown on https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29928
