I just had a question as to the new 6 spd auto that comes in these trucks... .

It seems to me that every once in a while if you listen closely to it it almost sounds like it lugs the motor as if it were in too high of a gear... .

I am just curious as to if most of you manual shift it to a lower gear or just let it do its thing

? THANKS

DB21,

The transmission in mine seems to be steller so far and I have almost 17K on mine now... The transmission just seems to do its thing as it should to me and I haul a 27' GN trailer almost all the time. Only on the weekends is my truck without the trailer LOL.

If I get a heavy load I will how ever lock mine to the first OD gear which is 5th and I want use 6th at all, but the transmission shifts itself from first to fifth. I do use the tow/haul position.

But in your question of manually shifting it, I don't mine at all. I just don't see any reason to with how well the transmission does it. The motor despite being choked almost to death from the exhaust limits they have placed on it, doesn't seem to mind how the transmission does the shifting on mine anyway. I look forward to reading the others on here on your question.

I will say that with the transmission on mine in the tow haul position and if I am doing a lot of stop and go driving as like in town to apply the exhaust brake also, this truck is awesome with what I do hualing stuff around. The only real problem I have right now is the fuel mileage and that is pulling or just the truck by itself:(
