Finally got some papers from the previous owner was a 2020 trans, now lost 3rd almost entirely and 5th. They said they’d warranty it but it’ll be a 3week wait and parts only, still cost me around 4-5k.
They want to charge 4-5k to warranty it? That seems more than a little excessive if that is what you are saying. $5-6k should get you a solid transmission with all the known issues addressed.
There 3 major points in the 68RFE that need addressed, if they are not done then it is just a problem waiting to happen. The biggest one will be the VB which is the source of most issues, especially after some miles and wear. The Revmax zero flex billet VB is the best parts available and really the only way to fix the inherent leak issues in the stock VB. The OD housing needs a billet unit or they do not last. Revmax and Sonnax both have offerings to resolve that issues the last weak piece is the the low\reverse sprag is weak, replace it also. Looks there are now GPz clutches available for the, that would be a good addition if using the stock count.
