Folks,

We pulled the engine yesterday and it went very smoothly thanks to the help of several folks including Idually (thanks Andy - huge help dude) who came down from Denver for the day, TJ, Bob, Bob, and Rob.

We tore the rig apart - removed/cut off the front clip, scrapped the wrecked sheetmetal, pulled the hardware off the engine, loosed the converter, and yanked the engine. It was tighter than I thought it would be, but it eventually popped out with a little help of a prybar getting the flexplate to clear the bellhousing. Anyways, some pics:

Here's me and my broken rig :{

Back side of a 6BT, and factory adaptor

Engine stand I made today - the engine flips verses rolls - very stable and simple

Rear mount - all plugs are accessable

P-side mount - uses the motor mounts as the main support for the weight of the engine -just like the factory

It's a 4-ton unit (max capacity) depending on where the slider arm is pinned - the further out its pinned the less it'll lift. Did the job great - we had it on 4-ton for this pull, and boy could you tell it was heavy - wow. I got it at Checker Auto Parts several years and (several engine pulls) ago - among the top 3 Most Valuable Tools I have, along with my bench grinder and air compressor. Nice thing is it collapses up to fit in about a 2'x3' space in the shop. Works great, and sure was the hero for this pull.

Thanks ;) Took about 8 hours to fabricate but boy does it work good. That sucker is h-e-a-v-y. I think I'm going to prop the whole thing up on wood blocks just to keep from flat spotting the rubber on the casters... .
