Bombing the Bobcat 753

I am looking for anyone who has a motorhome with the Cummins mechanical 6CTA8. 3 engine who has uprated it with a fuel plate, such as from TST Products. I have a 1991 Allegro 39' Diesel Pusher with this engine and a Bosch PES6MW inline injection pump. This is a few years earlier than when the Bosch P7100 pump came out. My dilemna is that most of the fuel plates are for the P7100, but the people I talk to say it will work in this similar pump. My biggest problem is finding the proper way to remove the AFC housing on this pump. Thanks

The issue is not the pump, it's the governor type. Does that pump have the RQV. K governor? Many types of Bosch governors don't use torque plates, just an adjustment screw.

Yes, the pump has the RQV governor. (not the RSV). The manual I have says the RQV governor is equipped with an air fuel control(AFC) device to help control emissions. Will this work?

Joseph, If you need more pictures, please let me know. I am very interested in turning up the power... If this is not compatable with a fuel plate, can you guide me how to increase power?

Thanks

The RQV uses screw adjustments, not a torque plate. You should get a copy of Diesel Fuel Injection by Robert Bosch as you have to match drawings to what you have. You may have to disassemble the afc to get to what you need to adjust.

Joseph,

Thanks. I appreciate your help. I am going to download the manual and go from there. Also, I assume I am going to need a special wastegate fitting or boost control of some sorts? Thanks...

I have a book that shows some info.

Mostly generic info but it's bulletin #3666037-05 Master Repair Manual Injection Pumps and Injectors Midrange Engines

It has some very interesting info about that pump on a fire pump CPL# 1366 350HP@2100rpm

Cummins part#3921169 bosh part#0403466142

Enjine timeing at 22 degrees

I don't see how to turn it up with the info I have but I saw this post and thought I would throw my $. 02 in.

I have an MW pump on my IH DT466 to get more fuel just locate the 10mm allen plug on top of the pump forward of the AFC housing take this out, inside will be a slotted screw with a 9mm jam nut accessed with a deep socket. Break loose the jam nut and unscrew the screw partially with screwdriver finish taking it out with locking hemistats or the like so as not to loose it inside the pump. Once thr jam nutted screw is in your hand count how many threads are below the jam nut then reduce the number of threads below the nut by turning the nut down this will increase the fuel try about 4 threads below the nut then put it all togather again and try out-you may need to readjust.
