Competition launching in 4wd

Competition New pulling series

I posted something on another site about this awhile back, but this is a better place for it.

Anyone with a bombed 6spd hit the drag strip ever? I realize autos and five spds are quicker, but there has to be some semi-fast six-speed guys out there.

So... . what are your times, what bombs(especially clutch), what gear do you launch in, do you launch in 4wd?

If I ever make it to a drag strip, you can bet that I'd launch in third gear 4X4. I'll have to get back to you with the time that might produce.

I think there has been some mid to high 12's with the sixer. Problem is, most of the guys that drag have an auto.

The begining of last summer I ran a 13. 3 with my six speed. I should be able to do a little better this coming race season :)

I was running a single charger(B1) a dual disc clutch(EEP),JR Adkins NNstage IIs inj. ,and a Edge Drag Comp. I think Jeff Prince ran low 12s rowing through the gears. (twin turbo truck)

Ask Wayne how he cuts such good E. T. 's with his 5-speed... . between him and Jeff Prince... they're about as good as it gets with the NV-4500.

Wayne's hard on parts, though. :-laf

Hold on to your chairs boys (mostly so ya don't fall over laughing) I have drag raced a couple of time and the fastest time was 17. 88 with an 8500 lbs + truck launching in 2wd 2nd gear about 2400 rpm. I could probably do better if I had some practice and watched the lights on MY side of the tree.

It would matter anyway Justin, stakes leash doesn't allow him much movement, and can't seem to leave the yard. :)

I am not much of a drag racer, that lightning fast E. T. was the last time I raced I was watching the other guys tree and he red lighted. Go figure, I will try it again this year, but I will try to lighten up the truck and I have more hp and see if I can break the slow poke barrier.

I'm gonna get mine to the track to baseline while its stock. Then as I bomb it I'll go back. More fun and cheaper than the dyno(not that I won't hit the dyno when aval. ). I've been dreaming about a CTD for years. I can't wait. :D
