Competition 6spd ETs??

I wanna know what ETs are coming from 6spds and how they are launching and shifting.



We're gonna be racing at the Tulsa dyno day and I wanna get the best ET possible.
 
Well, I have only raced 3 times so far, and my technique sucks... . I launch in 2wd, in 2nd gear, and shift through all the gears. My reaction times are around . 75 which isn't too bad, but my ET on my best run was 16. 9. However, with my Comp on 5/5, my terminal speed was 90. 2 MPH, which was within 1 MPH of some guys with ET's almost 2 full seconds lower than mine. Gotta love that HX40 when the lag finally ends and the boost kicks in full bore :D B1... ..... Oo.



I have been winding up to something like 2500 - 2800 RPM before each shift, which may be too much, I'm not sure. I may try skipping a gear one time, and maybe a 4WD run...

Your 368hp . . is that w/an HX40? I would hope that the HX40 would give a little more hp than an HX35. Your numbers are almost Identical to my DD3 PEC HX35 dyno run. . see the link in my sig for the sheets. I get my SBC ConFE put in Tomorrow. Then I'll be able to harness the B1. Right now I can't load the engine hard enough to get the boost up.



I expect to be in the 440-450hp range.

Mark, Tom's 368hp dyno was before the Comp, but with the HX40. I think he had a DDTTPM at the time... His dyno run was the final straw that infected me with BOMB-itis! I was completely content with my stock ETH until I saw him dyno, and CCahill let me borrow his EZ for a weekend! :eek: Now, I can't work enough overtime to refill my bank account before I spend it again...

You guys are the greatest! This site has been an inspiration to me, and my wife hates every last one of you! OH WELL!:D

How does that DD TTPM compare to the PE Comp?



Iwould still hope to get better hp w/a HX40. The B1 is great, I make close to 400hp with the PEC off!!! ( ok more like 380-390 ;))
 
Hey Mark,

The True Torque Power Module is a 50 hp box like the EZ, so the upgrade to a Comp should be up to 80 hp more... :cool:

Yep, my dyno run in September 2001 was with everything in my sig, except I had the DD TTPM (an EZ slightly modified to be optimized with the DD injectors). I did not have the Comp box at that time. I did have the HX40 then also.



I'm expecting that now with the Comp, I could get betwen 400 - 420 HP. I sold the DD TTPM to another TDR member, so I have only the Comp box now.



I can only get 32 #'s boost from the HX40, even under max accelaration on both the dyno and at the track. And yes, I do have a boost elbow installed. However, recently I noticed that when the good folks at DD installed my stock HX40, they moved the boost gauge input line from the wastegate area where it was on my HX35, over to a port directly on the intake manifold itself. So maybe the gauge is now reading vastly different than it would be if it were still right at the turbo itself... ..... :confused:



On the dyno, I don't think I had any traction problems, but I sure do at the track... . I launch in 2nd gear and can easily feel the tires spinning all the way through 2nd and 3rd gear. The lag from the stock HX40 is kind of nasty though... . but man, when it kicks in, you get rocked back pretty nicely in your seat :D



If it wasn't for the cost of the B1, and the fact that I need a front end lift kit and new winch bumper as my very next BOMBs, I would be extremely tempted to go over to HVAC's place and have him put a B1 on Godzilla... .



Galen, I love your lift and new tires as much as you like my BOMBs :D now if only I'd won that $170Million California Lotto last weekend Oo. Oo. Oo.

Hi Tom,

It took me two days just to cancel all of the orders I placed because I KNEW I was going to win that lotto! :{ :{ I have just the PE Comp, and my clutch is slipping a little in 6th gear on any setting over 3x3 on the freeway... Southbend here I come! (I'll have to baby the truck for a month or so, other projects always seem to interfere!
 
Pay to have the clutch done unless you have access to a lift and transmission jack. the transmission , bell housing, and tranfercase weigh well over 300lb. I saw mine while it was out and its HUGE. about 4ft end to end#ad




I normally do all my own work but when I crawled under there to contemplate the clutch if flat scared me away. . #ad


$400 later my SBC is in. #ad

Its ok, my truck only has a little 160 hp pump and your all 24 valvers has 235 or 245, you have nothing to worry about.

Plus you have an air plane for a turbo and I still have a WH1E

Wow Mark are you Afraid? Maybe you can't shift fast enough or get out of the hole to beat a Lil FlowerJOKE as you so aptly named my truck! Oh well..... Stirring the pot and cooking with Diesel Fuel for the Right Burn! I think I will race you off the Juice naw I wanna let you get a good look at the BYE NOW Sticker! Adam just because you have less Pump and Turbo than everyone there and more HP than most of them there. That Gives you the right to make fun of them as much as possible! and I will be too because I can Talk the talk and walk the walk!

Unless I die or something between now and then Ill be coming up to dyno and race a little. Not too much though. You guys will eliminate me fast, Im sure. Too heavy. Its fun though.

I've been evperementing w/3rd gear launches. Anybody else try this?



I haveto feather it a bit but it drops the shifts to 4 and allows me build boost a little faster.



So who's got the lowest ETH ET??????
 
ETH runs

I've got two buddys with ETH's. One ran a 15. 6 at 88 with just a PE HOT box, and the other ran a 14. 7 at 92 with DDIII, TST 9 level, and a PE EZ. They both have 315 75 16 tires. The guy that ran the 15. 6 has 3. 54 gears and the other has 4. 10.
 
The guy that got a 14. 7 had 4. 10 gears, I sure if he had 3. 54 gears he would have done better. He could've ended the quarter in 5th, that would be one less shift.
 
At 92 mph he was close to tached out in the 1/4. He probably went through the traps at or near 3000rpm.



If he does any more mods he'll need another gear. I'd be thrilled with that time and 92+ in the 1/4.

Don't know how much of a difference elevation makes on a turbo diesel, but we're at about 3000'.
