Competition Dragging Rear

Competition Marine Cam

Lower elevations are supposed to be better. Tulsa is at ~1000'.

the air is denser so . . more power. the problem is there's more drag when racing. I wonder what the net effect is.

Wind(air) is only a significant factor above 55-60 mph. I wonder how much difference it actually makes from there on.

The gain in performance would out pace the loss to drag if I was to make a guess.

Any other opinions?

I ran 14. 511 @ 93. 54 & 14. 537 @ 93. 19 last weekend at the local strip.....

I know I can beat these ET's with better launches... ... :D I have Videos of me winning 4 out of 5 runs... Everyone at the track was amazed that I was going to run a 7,600 lb diesel against a 3,000LB Big Block Charger... ... . I won by two car lengths!! :D:D:D

hey kk how are you launching that thing?? Are you launching in 2wd or 4wd, and are you starting in 2nd or 3rd gear?? I just cant seem to break 15. 50 at @ 96mph. this is 2wd 2nd gear launch. 3rd gear launch scares me, i guess ill just have to try it one day.

Rubberneck,

Try this. . its really cool!!

rev to 2500 and launch in third. feather the clutch keeping revs over 2k until 25mph then let it out. then the motor bogs down to 2000-2100 the boost is already over 30lbs. so you end up at the bottom of 3rd after skipping a shift and boost already up. . really neat ride. I haven't tried it in 4wd YET!

I am launching in 4X4. . 2nd Gear. . It is a great Launch... I stay neck and neck with the guys with Slicks and it is fun to watch the video of all four tires spinning some then the truck just shoots foward and then when you shift the truck kinda "Bucks" the back end down... . :D

I plan on trying a third gear launch like mark says..... After all I need to get the SB clutch seated in!! :D

Hey Kurt, I got the clutch on Friday. Can't wait to get it in and ready for that B1. How are things coming on that front? Send a PM if you want or answer here.

15. 7et @ 91. 8mph for me, and this was back when I still had my stock HX35 and 3" exhaust. This PDR HX40 has incredible top-end and I'm hoping I can push it to 95mph to see low 15's or possibly high 14's.

I launch in 2wd, with 2nd grear starts and run through all the gears 2-6. I tried a 3rd gear start, the engine bogs a little more, but then it builds boost a little more faster. The problem with that was as soon as my PM3 sees 8psi of boost it dumps tons of fuel, so with the truck barely rolling off the line, all that fuel suddenly kicks in and I would just be roasting the tires giving a crappy 60ft time. 2nd gear is much better for traction. I shift at about 2800rpm.

I'm really not interested in doing hammering 4wd launches. Breaking a transfer case doesn't seem worth it to me for an attempt at just shaving a couple of tenths. Just look at the guys that have been doing this for a few years... the T-case is always the first thing to break.

Y'all ,may not like the 4wd option... . but its fun as hell! 1. 8x & 1. 9x 60ft times are a blast and a rush... . not to mention when you leave behind whatever your racing.

If it breaks it breaks... .

Mojo293, PM's are a little bit of a hassle compared to email so that's my preferred method.

The B-1's are rolling off the assembly line now that the Back Ordered parts are showing up. They are being finished at a slow rate but I am shipping a few every week and when the Factories ship the "Mother Load" I will actually be ahead of demand for a change and will get to stock a few on the shelf for "Next Day Gotta Havitt's" :D

fun as hell?

Well, why don't you ask MY6 how many 'cases he's destroyed while doing 4x4 launches. Yeah, that sounds like fun alright.

It is fun :) If it breaks... . it breaks..... big deal... . fix it and move on. I'm not concerned if I break one or two or three. So yes it is fun ;)

Its all about the adrenaline rush associated with it.

The difference between 14's... and mid 13's is amazing.

I know you don't care if you break your own stuff. What I'm trying to get at is it is not wise to tell someone else "oh yeah, go ahead it won't hurt". Unless you're willing to pay for their t-cases since you said it was okay.
