I bought amsoil for my truck a few weeks ago. . put in the BMK-15 and HDD15w-40(royal pain in the a$$ -- still have a tiny leak at the adapter).

I got to looking under the truck as the transmission & transfer case are next for the synthetic. I found where fluid had been slung out of the tailshaft all over the bottom of the truck. The tailshaft seal was still wet.

anyone else had a lot of problems? Anything else I should look for?

the truck has 28k. Has a squeek in the dash that needs fixing. I guess I'm just worried, that last 8k of warrany is seeming really short right now.

I'm gonn run it to the dealer friday:(

I've had/got both problems

Mark, I had a bad seal on my 2wd 2001's 6-speed and it cropped up around 4000 miles. After the first warranty replacement the seal lasted only a few thousand miles so I took it back and they got to do it again. Well it has stayed dry for 30,000+ miles since then.

As for the squeak in the dash I have that big-time, accompanied by some "pops" and "snaps. " This showed up not long ago and has gotten much worse lately. Still looking to resolve that.

If you have the NV-231HD there is a plug on the top of the tailshaft housing that has a revised replacement. The revised plug has a rib down the middle to keep it from collapsing. Good luck, been there with mine.

This is the first real problem other than a bad alternator at 5K. I was suprised but not alarmed at the alternator, just a fluke. The seals on the transmission are a different story.

I'm gonna try to get the shop to do a thorough inspection. I'll just have to find a shop manager thats got a head on his shoulders, which might be difficult:D :D

I have an extended warranty from geico that is bumper to bumper but has a $250 deductible. I just would rather it be free.

Off the subject but if you buy a new vehicle Geico will give you a 7yr 100k warranty for about $40/6mos transferrable to other geico customers. A lot better than $1500 from the dealer. It varies. . small cars are only $6/6mos. Great deal in my book.

Does anyone recommend a dealer in or near Tulsa OK????
