I am wondering if the G56 6speed would have a lower mpg than the automatic / 3. 73. (because of the different overdrive ratio)

Since the G56 would be turning about the same rpm as a NV5600 with 4. 10 rearend, I would assume these 2 manuals setups would have the same mpg.

Could someone with a '04. 5 - '05, NV5600 / 4. 10 4x4 share what mileage they get (and at what conditions)

Thanks

dave

At the dealer today and 4. 10 with the g56 is not available. Said the G56 has higher OD gear so the 3. 73 is like having 4. 10 with the 5600

I have a 03, HO/6speed with 4. 10's. Running empty during the warm time of the year without cut fuel I am getting 19. x to 20. x, and I live in the Adirondack Mts. I pull a Gooseneck with my WC-53 Carryall/Cummins. My GCVW is 19,500, I am in the low to mid 16mpg running from NY to Iowa. Ha!, the same trailer/load on my 98 Ram V-10 / 47RE was 5. 2 mpg. My truck is totally stock

Running up and down the mountain, my overhead shows 16. 3 mpg. That's on winter fuel and with the re-flash. I haven't manually checked yet. It's only 6,300 miles on the clock so far.

I have a 2004. 5 3500 dually 4x4 with the 5600 6speed, 4. 10 gears and it has the reflash on the computer. Last fall towing a 10k boat from Seward to Anchorage Alaska (mountains) keeping it at the speed limit (55) and powering hard up the hills it averaged 12. 5mpg with the boat in tow. With the truck empty driving in town last summer it got an average of 16mpg. This winter with winter fuel and letting it warm up almost every morning its been averaging 13-14 in town. I drive it a little hard, I don't waste time and get to the speed limit ASAP from every stoplight. If I drove a little easier it would be a bit better. On the Hiway at speed it has a sweet spot at about 55-58 that you hardly have to make it work.

I had a 96 2500 Auto with 3. 54's before and on the hiway it did a lot better, in the summer my best tank ever was 23mpg. But with a load on it winter or summer it got worse mpg than the new truck.

I find that if I can control my right foot for an entire tank of fuel I get 2-3 mpg better fuel miliage in the winter and 3-4 mpg better in the summer with both trucks.

Also I would not go back to the single rear end the new dually truck handles the weight Soooo much better.

My 05, 610 Ram has over 13,000 miles now. Only 3 months old. Overall average milage is 17. Speed and driving style have big impact. I typically run 75 on the freeways and drive up and down the mountain at least once a day. 1500 ft elevation to 7000 feet in 11 miles. Gotta love this truck.

I have a 3500 6-sp 4. 10. Took it to Kentucky... .coming back, I filled up in Bowling Green, KY and drove all the way back to Baton Rouge, LA with fuel to spare. Got 21 mpg. Going to work and back (11 miles some city) I consistantly (hand figured) get 18-19 mpg. 14 mpg with my 30-ft Sunnybrook 5ver on the back. I'm pretty happy with those figures!
