7.3 banks turbo

My friend has a 93 1 ton Ford that he had a Banks turbo and exhaust kit installed that runs very low boost and high egt's. At the time he replaced injectors and the pump and put in a K & N filter. The turbo is non wastegated and only puts out 3 lbs of boost, and under load the temps rise fast and high with plenty of smoke. The motor has no intercooler but the boost should run 8 to 10 lbs before IAT's get to hot. Where should we be looking? DW

Check for air leaks between the turbo and intake manifold???
