7.3 naturally asperated...More power?

How do you turn these things up? I had a guy come into the shop I work at and wants a little more go out of his truck. He says that truck is his dream truck!

add turbo... ats, hypermax and banks all have turbo kits i believe... a friend of mine has a 93 factory turbo idi and it's pretty peppy in the first few gears [slushbox] heck, last time we raced, he had me off the line and about 1/2 a truck on me at the far side of the intersection, but after that, no chance he had... hand shakers don't make for a great drag racing machine...

Drop a Cummins in it. I remember looking at the Banks kit back in the day. Add a turbo, even if it is non-intercooled like the 1994-1997 PowerStrokes. Look into bigger injectors once you have some air pressure. EGT and boost gauges would be smart.

I looked it up at www.bankspower.com

Their Sidewinder turbo kit will add 82 horse and 143 torque. Should be a kick in the pants compared to stock.

ATS makes a real nice turbo set up ATS made the turbo set up on the 94 turbo IDIs

IIRC, Hypermax was the supplier for the turbos used in '93-'94. 4. That's what I heard, anyways.

for myself, i would be careful adding too much power to the old non turbo 7. 3's.



adding 80 hp or so, especially if it has 100 or 200k on the clock, could stress the old girl.



make sure you tell him there is no warranty on it if it blows.

Is the timing correct? I know that the old 6. 2 Chevs could be woken back up by adjusting the timing. But hey, I'm far from being a mechanic.
