Howdy Folks;

Just installed the Bargman plug-n-play 7 pin connector in the bed of my 2014 2500 for connection to my camper. The camper was previously in a 2011 Tundra and it looks like, based on the 2014 Ram trailer wiring schematic I saw, that the pin-out on the connector is different than the Tundra. Don't want to plug in the camper till I confirm the wiring. Can anyone tell me what the pin-out for the 7 pin connector on the 13 and 14 model year trucks is? I've searched the forum and found threads on the 7 pin connector, but none of them listed the pins functions.

Thanks

Have you looked at the cover door on the connector at your bumper? There usually is a diagram showing what the pin out is.

Thanks guys, I'll check those and will check it with my multimeter. I would expect it to be standard but the schematic I saw from the 2014 Ram DVD was way different. Maybe it's just the way they were showing it. I would expect them to use the standard pin numbering. Maybe it is the same and they just use a different numbering for the pins, but that doesn't make any sense either.

Okay, the pinout was on the plug cover and it is the same as my Tundra was wired. Not sure what Dodge was doing with the schematic I saw. Thanks

All 7 pin connectors should be wired the same. Otherwise, the RV would have to be rewired for each truck. You may be looking at the connector from the back side vs reading the schematic from the front side or vice versa. Either way, glad it worked out for you.

The 7 pin wiring has been industry standard since around 1984. It can cause a lot of confusion with older trailers (Airstream for one) if they have never been updated

I believe the schematic you're looking at is for the connector that plugs into the back of the standard 7 pin connector, or at least that's what I concluded after a dealer in Texas gave me a schematic like you're describing and suggested I change my trailer wiring to match it (I was having a problem with the truck's ITBM). The Ram connector must swap the pins around to be correct for the standard 7 pin that is the industry standard for trailers.
