No trailer tow package - wiring

Had a wreck this weekend

Did a search and found some of the pin layouts for the 7-pin connector but they dont match what I am seeing on my '05. I have the towing package but since I have a 5er trailer had another plug installed in the bed of the truck. My initial task was to determine if I was getting 12v to charge my toy hauler batteries when connected to the truck.

I am showing a constant 12V (always on even without keys in ignition) coming off of the pin at the 1 o'clock position with the notch orientation up.

My left hand turn signal is coming off the pin at the 7 o'clock position. This doesnt match any pin layout diagrams I am seeing ... I am confused ... maybe I should check the factory installed plug ... any explanations ...

My first guess is that someone hooked up the plug wrong. My factory 7 pin plug cover has the pinout molded right into it and it matches the std setup. I have made 1 extension and installed 2 in bed plugs for 5er access. The 12+ pin will always have power to it, it is not on a relay. And as you can decifer from the usual diagrams 12+ is at 5o'clock car end notch up.

For actual truck/camper battery isolation I used to use a Battery Combiner (West Marine) with my old truck camper but have not transfered to the 5er and have not had any problems with the standard setup.

It is possible that the installer hooked the plug up in a backwards pattern looking at a "plug front" pinout but working from the "plug rear".

Definately check the factory plug to confirm. Hopefully they left you enough wire to pull the plug far enough to rewire it correctly
